Announced by Konami at E3. I never owned one back in the day but definitely lusted after them with the endless import coverage that the likes of CVG gave them. 6 games revealed so far including R-Type

I had a PC engine, that thing was so incredibly small and cute already. Looks like in the eu we're getting they grey one, white original or nothing for me.

Though the eu version has alien crush I see..

Never had one, always admired the dinky white one from afar. In pre internet era it had a mystical, unknowable quality to it from the little snatches of it I saw in magazines, and one time in an import shop in Corn Exchange Manchester.

I’ve no interest in that grey thing unfortunately :(

A mate of mine had one, I loved Super Star Soldier back in the day, looks like I've found what I'll be buying in Japan in November :)

I recall how I really badly wanted one because it had a version of Street Fighter where you could play as the bosses, which was totally rad

Hmm, looking at the initial line up of games, the Japanese one is the best version, as it has Super Star Soldier and Rondo of Blood.

Still, depending on price and availability, it might be worth getting all three if the games list differs massively.

Oh my lawd. I don't even mind we're getting the Core Grafx one - it's much sweeter than the horrid TurboGrafx one. Day 1 purchase for me, although I am a self-confessed mini console fetishist.

Optional multitap, too. A Bomberman game is a cert.

Why isn't it available to pre-order from anywhere, goddammit?

Same here. The white one has aged so well. Along with the Neo Geo i could only dream of them as a boy.

It was a mythical machine in my youth. It was mentioned in magazines but I never saw one in the wild. £100 is a bit steep for someone with no nostalgia for it. Especially after I got a PlayStation mini for £26 new.

    £100 isn't steep, it's f'ing vertical.

Hopefully it comes down to something a bit more sensible before release.

Yeah, it always had unique titles from what I read in the mags at the time. No way you could get it though.

And no way I'm paying £100 for one.

I remember reading ACE and C&VG and just wanting one but as a teenager back in the day with the internet not existing, no way would my parents go for a ‘grey import’!

So I’ve been looking at this with interest; would pay £60ish but not £100

What's the spec of the hardware being used?

I mean, between this, and all the other 'mini' consoles, I just want the fastest, that's crack able as it'll basically be all consoles.

If this is real, then the interface definitely is an homage to the NES/SNES Mini: https://youtu.be/DX7f7Cd4UDs

M2 are handling the emulation according to a konami tweet, so this is going to be sweet.

Anyone more excited now they've revealed the 57 titles?

These mini consoles all seem to be standard emulators with a Pi-style system-on-a-chip.

Hopefully if they do well enough, Sega might actually do a mini-Saturn with real hardware. Or someone might do a Vectrex-style display with vector mame games...

You had me at Super Star Soldier.

I was all set to pick the Japanese one up but it doesn't have Salamander :(

This was an object of desire in my youth that I never managed to own so this is probably the most appealing mini for me so far.

Depends on the games, it would be hard for them to screw this up really... All the sports poop was mostly on the Sega and Nintendo consoles they just have to get the IREM games like Rabbit Punch, Mr. Heli and R-Type, Taito games like Liquid Kids and Parasol Stars, Konami's excellent Gradius and Salamander ports and stuff like Magical Chase and it's a win.

    @Cappy

I came across one when went to a car boot sale as a teen. Came with a few games. £20. Bargain I thought. Got it home and the thing was totally dead. It was gutting. I always fancied one of these.

Nice list, but are we currently assuming it'll be hackable, and for games not included we'll just have to install a different emu?

Every single mini so far has been hackable, I guess this one will be too.

With hacking also comes the possibility of patching some of the Japanese games into English, Snatcher for instance.

Yeah, it knobs me off to be honest that were getting Snatcher but in japanese. It's essentially a text adventure, it's just mental. Apart from that though I'm really looking forward to this.

Yes, but this (and the new megadrive mini) are coming with an emulator specifically created (by M2) and not just half inched from off of the internet (therefore: should already work with all games for the system). I'm assuming at the moment M2 won't bother making sure their emu works with every game.
