Registered 7 years agoAh there was already a thread.
Here's initial thoughts...
This plays like butter and at really nice pace. The new camera angle is great. I tried going back to my usual (Dynamic Wide), but the new camera instantly made it feel old, limiting and rigid.
Living the new close control dribbling on right stick.
Gripes so far...
Refs are far too sensitive. I'm not sure if this is down to a slight change in the Pressure system alongside a lack of fine tuning collision detection threshold (allowing tough tackles). I'm sure this will be shorted.
Crowd effects need addressing. Especially when away team scores. It's like they're not there.
Also noticed that the ball sits far too high when you do an R3 flick upon recieving the ball. Anyone else notice this?
Oh and I couldn't test the online, maybe I was too early.
So far so good. Another grand advancement from the PES team.
Love PES2019, so really looking forward to this. -

Registered 5 years agoIsn't PES 19 on game pass? Hopefully 20 will be on it too and there won't be any need to buy it

Registered 18 years agoIt'll basically come down to whether they actually reform Master League for me. If it's the same, I won't bother. Fundamental reform and I'm interested. -

Registered 9 years agoHad a couple of games tonight. I like it. New animations are good and physics seem like they’ve been updated. Liking the new camera angle as well. However, refs are still overly harsh and they still haven’t managed to update the fucking replays with a height adjustment. Fucking boot level replays every bloody year.
Like dougs though the thing that would really sell me on it would be updated master league. Not holding out much hope for that though. -

Registered 18 years agoHmm. Sounds like very few changes there. And the unrealistic transfers enabled me to sign Mbappe, Dybala and Salah for relative pennies whilst selling 36 and 33 year old Koscielny and Ozil for £30m each! -

I'm actually getting to a decent level in pes 19 and the game really comes alive when your not just sprinting everywhere.
I play solely myclub though - will that be free on day 1? -

Registered 12 years agoPlayed this last night. I play PES every year since returning to the series with PES 2011. Impressions of the demo are really good!
* Pace slowed just enough to give players a split second more on the ball, or as passes are arriving to think about next move...I think this has been judged perfectly, any slower would be too slow and the need for blind passes as in PES 2019 is much reduced.
* Physicality is a big deal. Players on the ball now automatically shield it when they sense a challenge coming in...this means that spamming X (PS4) all game to nick the ball from every angle, as in PES 2019, doesn't work, because if the player is in the way, it will be a foul - the defender now has to work the angle for the interception/tackle to take the ball. I love this dynamic! X-spamming was overpowered previously.
* That also means stronger players hold up the ball better - for e.g. I saw Lukaku literally put out his arms to hold off the defenders around him from a goal kick and they couldn't push him out of the way of course. This opens up the game to be played more ways than just tiki-taka.
* Headers are back! After being hobbled in PES 2019...early days yet to judge for sure, but I scored three different types of header with Lukaku in open play in about 5 matches, a well-directed flick, a powerful downwards header and a roof of the net piledriver...PES 2019 headers were nerfed and floaty unless you had Ronaldo. I hope they've made a return, again to encourage a variety of approaches.
* It looks great, ball physics are to die for - long cross field passes are a thing of beauty. Lots of new animations, including upper body tussles as mentioned before. One of my strikers did a proper lunging slide when trying to get on the end of the cross which I hadn't seen before I saw an attempted diving header, with the player actually diving, rather than just stooping.
* New camera angle great for strategic play, but players/ball get a bit small near the goalmouths....needs some getting used to.
* Online worked fine, seemed a bit clunkier than offline play which was buttery smooth.
* Yes those boot-level replays - the y-axis has been broken since the PS2 days...
Day 1 for me... -

I’m not falling for it. -
My impressions:
This game is so silky smooth and well made that every pass is like getting a hand job from Scarlett Johannsen. -

I’m currently on holiday so will download it next week when I’m back. Slower pace, better headers and physicality sound interesting though -

This is worryingly close to the truth...not that I have, er, experience of that specific example! I was knocking it about (the ball I mean) last night and after a long pass arced across the pitch in what can only be described as a divine parabola, I just thought to myself that this was almost perfection.

Registered 10 years agoLooking forward to trying this out tonight, like the sound of slower pace etc. My biggest issue with pes is usually it's so good i play it to absolute death, been hammering online divisions on xbox via gamepass never used this mode before and it's superb. For a game hindered by licensing issues the thing pes should concentrate on imo is customisation like those amazing pc mods. Will likely try on both ps4 and xbox. -

Registered 7 years agoThe general slower pace of the game makes those burst of pace moments so much more exciting. Some of the animations are great too...
