Just Dance 2020 is to be the last game released for Wii. Sure it had an awful lot of absolute garbage, but the good games were really good, and that first go on Wii Sports was something else. Actually my strongest Wii memory is of mine getting delivered to my in laws house, and when I came to pick it up after work they were all on Wii Sports ![]() Edited by BigOrkWaaagh at 11:50:31 20-06-2019 |

Registered 15 years agoI loved what the Wii tried to do, but I ended up hating what it actually was. IMO the few great games there were would have been improved without the waggle. And it pushed Nintendo into a space that while profitable, was damaging for the brand. -

Registered 10 years agoDefinitely a mix of good and bad, waggle was rubbish and limited once the novelty wore off but the pointing to aim (with the improved wand) was great in games such as RE4 and Red Steel 2 was great.
There were some amazing games on it such as Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Metroid Prime 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles but plenty of dross as well as disappointments such as Skyward Sword.
Playing Wii Sports with family at Christmas was fucking magical though. -

Couldn't agree more - whilst sometimes it felt like a steady river of shit it also gave us the Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Skyward Sword and Xenoblade Chronicles. There were a few really good off-kilter games too like Zack and Wiki and Little King's Story. -

Registered 14 years agoHum, when I think of actual classic (rather than good) games from the Wii era I can only really think of the Mario Galaxy games. Twilight Princess was fantastic but I dunno if you'd count that as a GC game. -

I've been using dolphin on the laptop recently to replay some Wii games. Mainly the galaxy games and resi 4. They look great with enhancements. -

Pikmin 3 was Wii U, they just rereleased the first 2. I only say that because number 3 was one of my favourite ever games and I'd happily pay Switch tax to play it again. Also what the hell happened to the 4 that was supposed to have been completed years ago. -

I did love it on Wii U, cracking game. I imagine Miyamoto "upended the tea table" on Pikmin 4, sadly. -

I'm a blind idiot. Prime 3 was indeed lovely. I think maybe I'm so excited by the idea of Pikmin (a Switch rerelease of 3 or 4) that I see it in my dreams. -

I have a faint hope that Pikmin 4 is secretly complete and will be a Nintendo Direct surprise sometime soon. -

Certainly seems a no brainier, especially as they’ve done it for that Chinese Nvidia console -

Registered 12 years agoRecently set the Wii up for the kids. Wii Sports Resort with the Wii Motion Plus is legit brilliant. Wish they'd get it to Switch.
The motion plus seems to be 1:1 motion tracking, which seems to the basis for the Joycons on Switch -

If using a normal controller like the Xbox one you can remap the pointer to the right stick. I've actually got a dolphin bar (Wii sensor bar) and a proper Wii remote so I can use those on the laptop. It's pretty cool seeing GC and Wii games at full HD with other bells and whistles.

My strongest Wii memory is Ecosse threads on here. And how Nintendo would try every shit possible to peddle the new Wii fad. From Nintendo Wii Music, to steering wheel controllers, to Wii fit, and on and on. People, and grannies enjoyed it though so it served a purpose.
Best game that actually felt it was only for the Wii was that Monkey Ball rip off with the weird name.
