Couldn't find a thread search bar be damned, so thought it'd be good to have a place to share levels as there's nothing as robust as the Miiverse anymore and I'm pretty sure level codes are back.

Probably a good time to reprise the friend code thread too.

I really wanted this for launch, but money has to go on other things this month. I'll be late to the party on this one. :(

Will be more vigilant with the friend code thread, though!

I will be getting this on Friday as I have pre ordered. Really enjoyed the first Mario Maker on Wii U and 3DS and I am really excited for this one. So many great things in this game that I feel there shouldn't be any more Mario Maker titles after this.

I'll be in. Going to be great fun going home from my job designing games to relax by designing game levels...

I feel i actually have my fair share of Mario Maker. Great game, but i don't think the new tools will magically open new doors for me and i probably end up making similar levels as i always do. Might pass on this for a while until i feel the need to play it.

I'll probably give it a miss as, while it looks great, I don't think it's a particularly good use of my free / gaming time.

Bren waiting for a port of the first or a DX version since launch as I didn't play the first one so I'm well up for it. Plus my gaming time is limited these days so picking up random levels, dropping in and out sounds good to me. Plus my 4 year old is really excited to make some levels so I'll be sure to share his efforts...

I pre ordered. No time and too many games but fuck it.

My boy is getting this for his 7th birthday.

Never played the first one, is the interface fairly simple and intuitive? He has little patience and tends to get frustrated easily. Obviously I can help when I am there, but hoping he can create his own stuff too.

@robc84 it's great on the Wii U with the gamepad and stylus. My lad picked it up pretty quickly at about age 4 (his first exposure to any game). He built rudimentary levels for me to play. Might not be quite as easy with a finger on the Switch though.

Given that they are pushing for people to use the stylus they're giving away I think handheld will be the better way to make levels. Not ideal but you'd have to look down at the Wii U game pad the same.

Would this be worth getting if you love mario 2d games but know you'll never have time to design courses? In my mind I see it as never ending Mario where I can download other people's stuff, or is that not going to be the case.

@TheBear it will be the case for a good while.

Don't give up on the course building before you start!

For me, it was the time sink. It is really easy to build and design you courses. The difficult bit is coming up with new ideas and getting noticed. But share your creations in here and I'm sure we will all be nice enough to offer constructive criticism and praise where due.

Building my levels, sharing them here and playing others was so much fun for the first game. A couple of others in here made some quite impressive levels.

Mine tend to be going for an authentic Mario feel. Especially ghost House levels with secret short cuts!

Sounds good, I'm almost certain to crack and pick it up! You're right I should explore my creative side !

@robc84 my little nephew is 7 too but he's been playing the first game since he was 5-ish. He just picked it up, the controls/editors seem really straightforward. He knows how to download other people's levels too.

fyi everyone, this is the game plus 12 month online for £49.85. It's going for £54-ish other places.

Darn, sold out at shopto! There is Very otherwise it's at base.com for £54

My son saved up for a preorder for this and he is planning to take over the Switch at the weekend. He tells me I have to hide his mum's Monster Hunter cartridge for a week ;). He has been looking forward to it since the announcement. I personally think Nintendo requiring online pass for level sharing is a bad idea though (although we do have it die to the wife's Monster Hunter addiction)

I don't see the free stylus mentioned anywhere on store sites except Game and Nintendo stores so assuming he won't be getting one but he got it for 36 quid so...

Canít wait for this, only 2 more days, woo!

Like Mario Maker 1, I will never ever design a level, ha. Donít recall ever even entering create mode, just not interested.

Bonus! It will free up a HDMI slot, MM1 is the only reason my Wii U is still hooked up.

    As is mine!

I'm firmly in the "don't have the patience to make a decent level" class so will mainly be trying out other people's efforts.

Yep. Mario Maker is a kind of infinite game for me Iíve discovered, something Iíll always come back to in between games long after the initial play through.

Hoary old cliche but itíll be excellent having it for portable play. Played the 3DS version a fair bit but it fell short in too many areas.

My biggest hope for the sequel - which I think will be dashed unfortunately - would be better curation and categorisation. Iíve no interest in auto play levels or the absolutely insane nails hard stuff, and try as I might to avoid them I still found myself stumbling into them on the Wii U. Maybe I missed something in course selection?
