I have just received the game in the post today and played the first two hours of it. Not expecting too much from it but it is a lot of great fun. In the process of making my first level from it.

I have played the first bit of story mode. Had an idea running through my head about a level design, gonna take my time over it as I reckon it could prove to be really good!

My first level gonna be with the 3D World theme. It will involve a lot of clear pipes ;)

Great fun so far, played a few story levels and also some incredibly good user created levels, and not an auto-playing level in sight so far!

The story mode is the most fun I've had playing a 2d Mario in a long time.

As promised sleep has already been lost to this game!

Spent a good 3 or more hours constructing this level. I'm quite happy with it, think it has replay value to act as a speed run course. Though you can't just pelt it and jump, you need to know what's coming.

Let me know what you think.

Awesome. I'll have a go after work, and any others that crop up through the day. At 10pm... just watching the Giant Bomb quick look and yeah the story levels look ace.

Can you follow creators like you could in the original? All you had to do in the original was play a level first and then you could look at the creators profile and follow through that.

It's always good to follow fellow EG users to keep up with their levels. :)

@DangerousDave_87 yeah you can follow creators. I have followed one person who has made a brilliant Yoshi escape from prison level.

I've not played the original, so please excuse my ignorance - Is the story mode a kind of tutorial for the level creation side of the game? I think that would be a good introduction to it for the boy if so.

He'll be getting it on Sunday so I'll keep an eye out for any levels on here so he can give them a go :)

Just got one of my pupils to play my level during chess club. Great to watch someone play the level and see the pitfalls and what is possibly too difficult.

Also annoying to see that in a certain area of the level an offscreen browsers fire appears through the walls despite using the vertical wall to restrict the screen from revealing what's to come.

@robc84 Not played MM2 (yet :)) but my understanding is that the story mode is not explicitly a tutorial - it's just a series of Nintendo-designed Mario levels, but I think the idea is that they will give you ideas for your own levels. They're rated 1-4 in difficulty as well I think, which will no doubt help your boy :)

So, can anyone confirm officially that you can download created levels without needing the online sub?
I can't get a clear read on this as so much info is contradictory.

Hi folks, here's my first in MM2. It's fairly tough but fairly checkpointed. Give it a try with:

    DTQ-TX7-QDG

It's a traditional style level which focuses on using the Switch Blocks to get through it. Two quick clips of the level:

I really enjoying coming back to this so far, made a level if anyone would like to try it: VNV-QBY-77G

Iíll have to see if I can create some of the more complicated style ones from the original game again.

    Enjoyed it :)

Took more attempts than Iíd like to admit, many swears were had, ha.

Took me ages to realise the need for the spin jump, gah!

As for MM2 in general, so great to be playing again. The objectives that were in the 3DS version are a great addition.

Playing it with my 8bitdo controller, just feels so...right.

@Duffking My god I finally completed it! That had all the difficulty of a late game Mario level.

Nothing too tricky to pull off, but lots of tricky ish manoeuvres in a row. Took me far too many attempts!

Good feeling to complete it though! Alarmingly my level has a course completion of only a little percentage higher... Mine wasn't supposed to be as hard, I saw it as sort of world 6-boss level, one that would need 5 or 6 lives.

    Looking forward to your next!

Just what I needed after the many deaths of Duff's level.

Cleared it first time, felt to me like a Mario level from the first or second world. A couple of bits that could easily cause a careless death but more than one death and you'd be annoyed with yourself I think.

Again, looking forward to your next level!

@DakeyrasUK Cheers dude, you got any made yet?

I actually intended it to be a bit more... sedate, like the very first bit but to be honest it kind of spiralled. It's probably the hardest MM level I've ever made. It has like 3.1% clear rate and the lowest I ever made was something like 10% in MM1!
  • Deleted user 28 June 2019 20:34:19
    @Duffking

Level looks great from the snippets I've seen. Will get it added and give it a whirl later. Not sure when I'll personally get a level made. Not much time at the moment. Kudos to all that have made them so far :)

@Duffking just the one with the code above. 91 people have played it already.

I remember it taking days for that figure on mm1!

I guess the switch has more sales. My code is above but here it is again. XFL-L39-DGF
