Is it possible to make levels where you get chased through it a la Super Meat Boy?

Yes, there's one in the story mode where a poisoned mushroom chases you, though it needs help to keep up with placements of the note blocks.

I have never actually played a 2d Mario game (Odyssey is the only Mario game I ever played) but I really like the look of this.

Tempted, but it'll have to wait until I finish at least one game.

    Stupid question alert!

If I buy digital to replace my cart I assume my saved game data is still intact? Same region etc.
I don't think so. I'm sure I switched to digital on a game and had to start over.

    @Murbs

Mmm well I guess it's not the end of the world if that's the case. Done around 13 story levels and played a handful of user content and that's it.

It's a traditional style level which focuses on using the Switch Blocks to get through it. Two quick clips of the level:

That looks like a fun level just from watching that video. Good work, Duffking.

I tried creating a level using the pro controller and found it quite painful that way. Much easier undocked using a stylus.

Spent a good 3 or more hours constructing this level. I'm quite happy with it, think it has replay value to act as a speed run course. Though you can't just pelt it and jump, you need to know what's coming.

Let me know what you think.

Really enjoyed it, challenging but not frustratingly difficult. The optional (slower) way is really well designed. Taking the checkpoint has a trade off and the saws section is well designed.

Just got round to this, great level mate. Just the right level of frustration! The speedrun path was welcome and rewarding.

Just uploaded my second level! 1K7-Q6M-G0H.

Is hopefully much easier as I have made it much less likely to kill you unless you do stupid! :) Has 3 main sections of platforming. Though the third could be longer...

Thanks for the positive feedback all! The level isn't perfect by any means. Would people be interested in trying it again with some tweaks to improve how it plays? Otherwise I will consign it to the past as a good first level.

have they increased the size of the map and amount of stuff you can put down for this one?

I made a map called dejavu on the previous that had multiple copies of the same section linked ina never ending loop almost, with a few slight changes to switches or pipes and clues how to solve the puzzle. But it fell short of what I originally intended with the restrictions.

New level - Yoshi themed one - K9K-3Q0-YFG

Would people here be interested in a separate level code thread?

No problem, I'll stick a new thread together then and add the levels from here.

@Navi Just played your level. Really enjoyed it, just wish it was longer! And that is hardly a bad thing to leave me wanting more!

I like the red block disappearing if you don't run for it quick enough! Really helped with my world record!

A couple of thoughts about the game, firstly is it possible to make power ups dependent on the current state of the player? I thought this was something they added to the original, but have so far not found a way to achieve it.

Secondly, I think it is a shame that you can't have clear conditions with a checkpoint. It already has the test if you can complete the level from each checkpoint, why not include whether the clear condition can be met when spawning from a check point. Even better would be if it could remember the progress made and autosaced at a checkpoint.

@DakeyrasUK I thought this, but I think it's due to having to start from checkpoint with no items. If you go through from start you may have a vital power up that you might not be able to get after checkpoint.

@mumtoucher but then they would refuse it because it couldn't be completed. Shouldn't mean we all have to choose between checkpoints and win conditions.

My latest was made all the way with the intention of it being fairly easy but you'd either need to find a threshold of coins requiring finding some secrets or likewise a certain number of 1 ups, of which their are plenty in my second level. But then when it came to adding the condition I'm told nope...

I might upload it without checkpoints and the win condition of coin hunting.

Wow... My second level currently has a pass completion of only 6% from 10 players... How is that the case surely it isn't that hard is it?

I think someone died where you start by being inactive several times as I can only see about 10 death locations including exactly where you start the level... That or people are dieing 5 times in exactly the same place. I can be shit, but this level is supposed to be at the 30% mark.

I think I need to rethink how I go about putting in challenges.

@DakeyrasUK Thanks, glad you liked the level. Certainly plan to do a more in-depth Yoshi puzzle level when I've got the time.

Know what you mean about the level options. Nice that they've got them this time, but still could have better options/combine them with checkpoints. Hopefully this'll get some good patch support like the first game did.

Posted this in the Eurogamer levels thread, but wanted to show it off here, too.

    Lava Bubble on the Double!
    MV9-FCR-CSF

My first MM2 level! It revolves around escorting lava bubbles through a treacherous dungeon. You might need a long jump or two to survive.

Not sure if I made it too hard or not. There are no power-ups as an extra hit would definitely let you cheese the level, but I was generous with the checkpoints. Let me know what you think!
