@the_milkybar_kid Nice level. Love the tanks. Certainly a solid challenge. @KRadiation Great look to the level and each of the little puzzles. @Kami Clearly I'm missing something as I couldn't get past the black flowers. I guess there's Thwomp above the note blocks but I couldn't get anything to trigger. |

Registered 18 years ago@Navi - That's simply a screen trap thing. If you scroll the screen up too far, it triggers the thwomp which blocks your way. You want to not do that, run across the treadmill to the switch on the other side. Use the switch to limit your jump on the moles.

Registered 16 years agoAll Aboard the POW Train
S5V-HPX-BQG
I liked working with this concept a lot. It's kind of a retread of a section I made in SMM1, but expanded into a fully-fledged level.
Not gonna lie, this is my hardest level yet. Requires some difficult platforming and a bit of tricky POW block management. In the final set-piece, you ride a train of six POW blocks on a track. By the end, there should only be one POW left on the track... sooooooo, good luck!
I was generous with checkpoints, and put a door on the last sequence in case of a retry, so I hope it's not too punishing.

Registered 2 years agoJ3F-B2J-8MG and 4M4-VWB-Q2G, please copy them over both that exist on the front page... I'm done, having a break for a while. OCD is kinda positive for this kind of productivity but it's also probably not worth the stress! The courses are both uncheeseable monsters now (I bloody hope). -

@Kami - Interesting idea, not seen that type of challenge in a level before. I'll probably give the level a miss then as I'm not too into the kazio hard or obscure puzzle levels (not that there isn't an audience for that sort of thing, just not what I go for). -

Registered 18 years ago@Navi - That's cool. It's a stage of Thwomps doing things they perhaps shouldn't be doing and the interesting mechanics behind it all. Once I started playing around with Thwomp Physics, I found it's very easy to make them do some very... strange things.
I'll do a more normal stage soon enough, also working on the sequel to Mario Maker Mythologies: Zero Chill, which surprises me how much people like it as a speedrun.
edit; Actually decided to upload the first stage I made, Untidaled - 6BY-59W-5RG. It's really just a nice little autoscroll shootery stage. I just added some decorations to it to pretty it up.

@Toonster - Great level. Nice amount of challenge and the gimmick was well introduced. Nice touch having the coins drop at the end.
@Kami - Cool level. Enjoy a gauntlet level like that, plenty to do and avoid. Loved the fish launcher bit, a nice surprise. Good fun. -

Registered 10 years agoOh yay, there's a thread for this!
Working on a bunch of levels at the moment, finished making three a while ago. The first two were pumped out fairly quickly for use in a tournament at a convention here in Australia, but I'm still quite happy with them overall.
Tidal Tunnel
4Q9-GVV-3YG
Cliffside Cannon Climb
XLW-YWS-06G
Pyramid Plunderer
T66-3XP-42G
I'll play some of the ones y'all have posted ASAP, but right now I absolutely must get some sleep. -

Kind of does what it says in the title. Slowly working my way through the courses on the front page. -

Registered 7 years agoGuys I'd I'm wanting to add different music just to a second area, how do I do it? Trying to add the bonus stage music from SMW onto a hidden area that I'm using for a secondary area in a level. Tried putting it onto the warp pipe, that only plays temporarily and goes back to the original music, if I attach it to mario it plays through the whole course. -

Can't be done AFAIK, which is pretty annoying.

Registered 18 years ago@atothewest - There are workarounds, I'm assuming you can limit the scroll and have an off-screen block or something with the music attached to it (on rails for an autoscroll) but it's certainly a lot more fiddly than it needs to be, and if you get too far from it then it goes back to the usual music (I found this out when I did Thwomp Towers, the final chase sequence I attached Boss Music to the Giant Thwomp but get too far ahead of it, boss music fades out).
Hopefully Nintendo will patch in some QOL fixes in the future, personally I'd like some basic physics fixes, I'd like the weight of more enemies to trigger P-Switches for example, because that'd make for some fun puzzles. -

Registered 18 years agoRight, it's been a couple of weeks since my last level (I've been finishing off DQB2) so here's my latest;
Red if you Dare! (CYOC) - 74V-3N7-1PF
I mean... it's fairly self-explanatory. You get to a pipe choice and it's fairly simple; green is easy, red is hard, and I won't judge.
I mean, I may mock you via sound effects a little for taking the easy route but hey, nothing personal!

Registered 18 years ago@the_milkybar_kid - Haha, I gotta confess, I had just finished playing some GODS Remastered and I was in the mood to make a tricky stage, but... I also wanted to make something more gentle. So why not do both in one, when the engine allows it?
I quite like the "Choose Your Own Challenge" idea. I may expand on it in future. -

Nah I'm just screwin' with you, it's called "A Slight Burning Sensation..." and it's full of fire and brimstone.

Edit; Uploaded some older test-stages that I think I'm okay with but could use some additional testing if anyone fancies giving some feedback.
P-Switch Problem: F1W-CP7-5HG (This is probably the easiest, it's just some odd P-Switch stuff).
Four Little Trials: RDV-5RL-SDG (This is the one I feel the least confident in...)
Seesaw Space Programme: VH9-0GS-DGG (Again, this feels a little... basic. But I do like buttstomping seesaws so...)
