Is getting the sort of review scores you're probably expecting. It's alright, basically.

(terrible OP but I was expecting to find an existing thread for it).

@Frogofdoom apparently the game comes with a free 2nd copy that can only be used for co-op, but only if you have the Deluxe edition. I imagine Nvidia only gave you the standard edition?

Yeah it's only a standard one I think.

Probably not as it was a freebie. I want to find out if the feedback to getting shot is better than the last one before I buy though as it was poor and needed changing.

Is this at all worth playing solo?

I'm not sure. I'm not enjoying the combat much at all, everything takes too much damage. Might even be more irritating than The New Colossus was, though time has mellowed me on that one. The camera shake in this is super fucking obnoxious, you stagger around like a drunk as soon as anything happens near you.

And you can't pause, even when solo.

Levels look really nice though, and it runs very very well. The characters have the same tone as the previous games, too, so if you liked them (and I did) then you'll like the story in this. Special props for making the 21:9 cutscenes fullscreen on my expensive monitor, too.

So should I play the second one before going near this one?

You probably should anyway, just for the story. It's barking mad. Put it in easy though.

I thought the trial would let me play the first level for free, but apparently it can only be used to play coop with someone who owns the Deluxe edition of the game.

I really didn't like the bullet spongy enemies and the lack of hit feedback of 2 (also the x1 version was a bit low res) I understand the enemies are bullet spongy but if you level up its not so bad?

I think I'll wait till its on game pass

The X1 version looked like puke stains on my TV. The low resolution by itself shouldn't be a problem, I've seen plenty of 720p games looking sharp enough. I think it was due to whatever post-processing AA they used. And didn't even run well anyway.

Good thing I haven't actually seen the Switch version, it would probably make my eyes bleed.

Donít know if 2 was patched (I only got it fairly recently) but it looks pretty sharp on my 4K screen

2 had dynamic res patched in later that you could control manually on console.

Only about two hours in and really enjoying it so far. Based on the negative reviews, Iím assuming it goes rapidly downhill sometime soon.

The only issue Iíve had is that itís making my One X sound like a jet engine, which it hasnít done with any other game - odd.

It came out on my birthday, so I treated myself to the deluxe version.
I played about 2 hours with a friend earlier this week.

We're doing some more tonight. I quite enjoyed it. Props for making it a coop multiplayer. You get some fun interactions which you'll never get solo.

    Level 1:
I spot an enemy and run towards him just as my friend says "so how are we going to play this ...stealth or guns blaz... oh. You've just rushed in"

    Level 2:
Right so this time, let's go stealthily.
My friend then shoots what he thinks is a pistol with silencer but which turns out to be small machine gun.
    WEEEEE ow WEEEEEEE ow WEEEEEEEE
    Whoops!

I think the last coop I played was Portal2, so it's a welcome return to coop gaming.

Urgh, mark me down as another one that downloaded the demo on Switch only to find out you need a "buddy pass".

    Interesting concept, pulled off badly.

@StixxUK this was me yesterday. What a pointless exercise it was to call it a demo. Fuckwits.

@Phattso Would have been far more sensible to have an actual demo that anyone can access and then use the buddy bit to unlock the co-op as part of the same download, or even an extended demo.

As it is, with nothing to highlight what it really is before you download it, it's just shitty.

Currently on hold with this as my One X is in for repair, but I was still really enjoying it.

Iíve even gone back to New Order and New Colossus on my PS4 in the meantime and Youngblood isnít ďvastly inferiorĒ in my opinion.

Yes, the co-op is hit and miss and the microtransactions (whilst not being intrusive at all) are a bit shitty.....but itís still a bloody good game.
