I'd argue the damage was done in the first innings more. That was a proper innings.
The damage is already done though. -

But even with you falling to get Smith out, it only left a total of 284. Which is reasonable, even if it was 150 more than it would have been had Smith been disposed of.

Registered 18 years agoThat would be a good thing if I had any confidence we could bat three sessions. Better than low cloud though I guess -

Registered 13 years agoBatting for the win is out of the question unless England go for broke, which means they'll be bowled out quickly. This pitch is good enough for England to scrape a draw.
But it's a tough one for England to accept because Edgbaston was one of the 'bankers' for a win and take an advantage in the series. -

Registered 13 years agoUmpire is having a shocker today. Twice he's dismissed Root for lbw, twice the review has shown it wasn't anywhere close, with the result successfully overturned. -

Root has to go as captain - this isn't some knee-jerk decision but one that's been brewing for over a year. Don't think he has the tactical nous, can't imagine him firing a team up and his batting has suffered since.
Not sure what to do about Bairstow and Denly - normally I'd say replace them but it doesn't sound like we have much depth in the counties so I'm not sure there's anyone better to step in. -

Registered 15 years ago@Rhaegyr I don’t think the team needs to change at all, other than bringing in some genuine pace for Anderson. You could look at swapping Ali for Leach but I think he will come good. He usually does. -
