What's the England team's beef with Wade?
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 16:48:26
@monkman76 he was sledging them yesterday and got told off by the umpire
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 16:54:34

    Blinding!
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 18:16:41
@askew we do not, ashes was later this year because of the world cup
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 18:17:29
And for all of Australia’s (Smith’s) Dominance I would say that barring rain england would have won the ashes so a draw seems fair.

First drawn Ashes series in 40-odd years. A real mixed-bag of skill but very entertaining.

Did you forget the third game? I know it's tempting to forget England getting all out for 67, but really... you shouldn't have won it. And you wouldn't have, if the umpire hadn't been blind at the end.

Come now. That's an argument that is going to get you nowhere. It's not like that was the only umpiring mistake.

Human error affected both sides, the weather only saved one ;)

But honestly, overall a draw is about right IMO. The was no clearly better team i don't reckon.

They should roll it over in a draw like Lotto, with the trophy getting bigger every time.
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 18:54:13
@Mola_Ram but we did win it, you could also question the first match in that vein when we lost Anderson straight away

There have been umpiring mistakes all through the history of the game. Bowden giving the final wicket at Edgebaston 2005, for example. I think the lesson to take from the Headingly incident is the price of burning your reviews on speculative - in that case, highly speculative - shouts.

Like individual brilliance won us a match we should have lost but then if wade had scored a double century it would have been a win for you.
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 18:59:42
I don’t think anyone is saying England deserved to gain the ashes either. A draw was a fair result

Yes a draw. But also we won the World Cup so overall we win cricket.
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 19:04:19
Winning the World Cup is a great achievement this year but it is still kiddy cricket.

It's fucked up, 4-day tests, 20-20, soon the 100... The evolution of cricket, it'll end up being reduced to a one-ball match and eventually just the coin toss.

Of course we wasted a review. Of course other things happened too. I just object to the notion that it was an ordained English win, when in reality it was a miracle. A highly-entertaining miracle to be sure, but a miracle all the same. And if that one decision had gone the other way, then it wouldn't have been a win at all.

Point is that it could have gone either way. And, overall, Australia was the better team that game. Imo, of course, but again... all out for 67.

Anyway, it was a patchy kind of series, but overall a decent watch. Hopefully both sides can be more reliable next time around.
  • Deleted user 15 September 2019 19:18:57
All out for 67 and then win... if a team is all out for 67 you would expect a 5-600 run deficit.

Like, i have said this before but the difference between the two sides was Smith.
