Aynone else slighty concerned about the distinct lack of devs signed up for EGX 2019? Page 3

Actually, having looked at the website... this has dropped any mention or affiliation to eurogamer. Ouch!

Roger Reedpop has cut us adrift. Hacked off the gangrenous limb, lanced the boil and squeezed the puss out of the wound.

EGX is free from the poisonous tendrils of the website.

They had a rebranding firm flown in and it now stands for Epic Gamer Xoment.

I feel like I'm the only one on here who genuinely likes the expo.

I LOVED the ones I attended in London a few years ago. :D

I've never been. I always imagined it smelled like a giant CEX without air-conditioning on a hot day.

According to the FAQ they are “working hard to secure the best games and features for EGX 2018.” so there’s the problem, they are still trying to fill last year’s show.

I think you just get to an age where you don't want to queue for hours to play 5 minutes of a game that is released in a months time.

If I see a queue at EGX, I stay well clear. If other people want to wait three hours to play this year's iteration of COD, more power to them. But I will at some point need to take a shit and I doubt the others will hold my place in line.

But last time around at least there were plenty of smaller games without a queue. Much of the fun of these things is hanging around the indie area, where the actual devs will talk you through the game and desperately try and convince you that it isn't total shit.

The retro area is fun too if you want to see why the virtual boy was so shit.

Ok I'm not great at selling these things.

Wow, what a bleak view you have of your gaming bretherin. It's not bad at all. Or possibly I'm one of the ones who smells so bad that it overpowers anyone else's stench. I don't though, I smell amazing.

Or you could just be sensible and make sure you get early-entry tickets. I've only ever been with early-entry tickets - during the first two hours you can basically play every single game before the masses pile in. You then just spend the rest of the time chilling chatting about games with people. Pretty incredible experiences at the London Eurogamer Expos I attended.

I have zero interest in the indie area. I play a ton of indie games myself and love the decent ones, but I'm not schlepping to EGX to play them. My friends and I are only interested in playing upcoming premium titles.

Early EGX's were great, because they hadn't blown up. I remember the few before Earls Court venue went were really good, no big queue times, really social.

The last one in London was a shitshow. Wanted to have a crack on Shadow of Mordor (I think that was the one at the time, I get the two confused) and queued for 2 hours for a 15 minute demo, and then fucked off to the pub because that was fucking nonsense.

It's too much of a proper convention now. It's like going to MCM. Fuck that.

To be honest I compare the experience to something like the board game expo at the NEC which has grown and grown over the years but still I manage to trial a bunch of games with little to no queues because they always seem to put on a decent amount of tables. Video game expos have always had the problem of never putting on enough machines.

I took my 3DS to the one event I did go to (I forget the year). I think I spent more time welcoming Mii characters to my plaza than I spent playing anything.

I took my vita last time I went with a brand new copy of little big planet on it... finished the game by the end of the day from just playing it in queues
