It's ugly as fucking sin. Gunna stick out like a sore thumb alongside all the other black pieces of AV equipment under my telly. I assume they'll have different colours, but that is a horrible one to use as the poster child.
I like non black consoles, having endless black boxes is a bit dull IMO.
    racist.

Upon looking at it for a bit, it's fucking hideous.

There's not nearly enough contrasting elements to the white, it looks "unbalanced".
Talk about an over reaction, it’s a controller. I like it a lot, looking forward to seeing it in other colours.

I love it. Haptic feedback as well. I'll probably have a massive erection all the time whilst holding this bad boy.

Not a fan of that colour scheme at all, but I'm sure it'll launch with a few colour options for extra controllers, and I could just sell the one it comes with. Assuming there won't be much couch gaming next gen...

How so? (Disclaimer: I may well have missed something terribly obvious!)

Based on an overlay video I saw on Reddit the 4 main face buttons, sticks, triggers and D-Pad are all in exactly the same place as the DS4.

Only things that have moved are the Create & Options buttons and light bar; the grips are slightly narrower and the touch pad is a trapezium.

It is the white/black colouring and where the change occurs that is the most significant change and makes the whole thing look a lot more different than it actually is.

As long as its comfortable.. I'm glad they went a bit more chunky like the xbox and switch controllers. For me are a lot more comfy.

@SnackPlissken it is actually narrower than the DS4.

Apologies, I meant local multiplayer to be more specific.

I wish they wouldn’t make the face buttons all white. There’s still an area of my brain that goes by colour. Put me off the Xbox elite pad too.

Someone's obviously never had a white wank rag.
    Or white socks.

Expecting the console to launch clad predominantly in white now too. Prefer black or a neutral grey myself but as long as it's not red or blue or anything silly...

    Maybe it's a heat thing.

Sony seem to go for aesthetics over designing a console the copes with heat/noise. Not sure they can get away with that this time, plenty of pro owners complain of noise issues as is.

Do they actually fail though or is it just noisy?

I still have my launch PS4 which is fine whereas I’ve now had 3 x Xbox One X since it launched due to them dying on me and having no video output or lots of artefacts in the picture.

Whereas I have never had an xbox fail on me since the OG!

    Anecdotes are great (pointless).

    I have had 3 consoles fail. A PS2, a PSV and a Xbox 360.

So 2:1 to Sony. (Although I have owned 6 Sony consoles compared to 3 MS).

Also owned 13 Nintendo consoles and had 2 failures. (DS Lite and 3DS).

I once dropped my N64 down the stairs. Not even a scratch.

The DS and 3DS both had weaknesses with their hinges though.

The ps4 my mates kids has died a few weeks ago, they turned it on and it spun up the turbine noise and now wont turn back on. No idea yet but I bet it had a good few hours use with all sorts stacked up around ti killing the airflow.
