@Rogueywon Yeah, can confirm NG+ is just like the original NG+ and DS2 NG+.

The original Surge passed me by but I'm really enjoying this based on the initial area and mini boss. Seems like a proper Souls game with decent ideas of it's own.

    @Decks

I would like to apologise for not remembering a throwaway line from a minor character in a film I haven't seen for thirty years.

    But I'm not going to.

Delver down. Not too bad thankfully. Phase 2 was tough but just shot the shit out it's head then gave it a few whacks. Phase 3 was a piece of piss by just keeping distance and running when it charged before getting some his in.

@wuntyphyve Yeah, phase 2 is the bastard bit in that fight. There's probably some lovely, elegant way of doing it, but I settled for damage-burning the shit through it.

@Rogueywon same. It was a cluster fuck each time I encountered it. Once past that it was much easier thankfully. Good fight overall though.

@wuntyphyve I refrained from making any spoiler-ish posts about standing by for Titanfall.

Ha, yeah it was a bit like that. Took a few goes before I got to grips with the fight but wasnt too bad once I realised what to do.

I did find after that boss fight that the next few right up until the final boss (save for one) were pretty much one or two-shots.

Good! The boss fights have been proper memorable encounters so far. Looking forward to what's next.

Okay, I am on around attempt twenty (possibly more) on Little Johnny. I know how to do it but simply cannot quite get there. Be honest: is it time I threw in the towel? I've never been able to beat a Souls game without online help; Sekiro was too much at Genichiro... Does Surge 2 become much harder after Little J? Because, if it does, I'm pretty much wasting my time

@Theticket He's a big spike. I don't think he's the hardest boss in the game, but he's a big step up on what's come before.

@Theticket I'd say persevere because he's a big shock to the system after all that has gone before and it takes some getting used to. Once you have him down you will start feeling better. It's still early in the game and you're still learning and getting used to it too so give yourself a break.

I died to him a lot... and I mean A LOT but I've finished the game.

Stalled on this during the week as my co-op partner was around, so most of my gaming time went into Borderlands 3. Off work next week, so plenty of time to push on then.

Thanks for the advice re: Little Johnny. Beat him this morning, so will soldier on with the game, which I am very much enjoying. I found that pumping points into stamina and battery, and leaving health prety much alone, really helped.

@Theticket Yeah, you can get by without many points in health. Stamina and battery definitely the way to go.

I may reallocate stats. Going to invest more in battery. In other news I'm now rocking a full wraith set. Brilliant for evading and gives me tonnes of ammo to shoot pricks with.

My NG+ run is still going, just... slowly as I get distracted by other things.

As for the life/stamina/battery argument: I'd get battery and stamina first then top up health as and when. having four/five batteries to draw from alongside the upgraded injectables is a big bonus.

Also, pro tip before you move onto new game plus: farm for tech and craft/upgrade as many armour sets as you can/want because the tech cost for building them in NG+ includes thes cost of upgrading them all to Tech level 10 and it is extortionate costing about 100K tech just to build one set.

Pressed on further today. Got the General down and the second version of Brother Eli.

I've been rocking the Gaia armour with its mad defence for a while, but think I'm going to switch to something lighter. That stamina pentalty just doesn't play nicely with my play style.

The wraith set is awesome. As well as the stamina benefits and the fact I hold 10 extra cells, I get two Omni cells every time a battery is filled. With all my energy gain implants, this awesome corrupted sword and the fact I plumbed loads of stats into battery... I'm a killing machine. Ammo getting topped up continually as I fill batteries like crazy, which also gives me tons of heals, plus I gain health on each battery... It's nuts. Met a third delver and absolutely creamed him. It wasn't even a fair fight.

I am really enjoying this. I had a good long session on it today and made it past the Delver which was a fun battle with a lot of variety. If anyone is struggling on this then I found a useful strategy. in the second form one should block most of the attacks, dodge all the black gunk and use the time when the dog form is on the floor to get the attacks in. In the third form one should stay at distance and bait the slide attack as it is really easy to dodge. . It is one of the better boss battles in recent memory in these sort of games.

Have a lovely weapon taken from the gold chaps, it is perfect for wrecking all the mobs around there. My favourite weapon so far.

I am also rocking a mid range armour set. AID bonus for tech scraps is good stuff and it is a decent set. I do have another set but I can't remember.

I may have overly geeked up the last couple of paragraphs. I am just quite impressed, nice to have another game to get into as it has been a bit dry for this genre and it is once again a great example. Can we come up with a new name that is not soulsborne.
