I had him so close at one point. Genuinely think he's not too bad and certainly is quite good fun, just keep getting sloppy. I'll try the in his face technique!

Can someone kindly remind me of how one splits weapons as I missed the prompt earlier and I have a new weapon I would like to try out.

@wuntyphyve Grats wunty. How special or "special" did your stats after the end credits make you feel? Assuming you watched them, of course.

Ha ha, well special. Most deaths to Gaia statue at 17 or something...

    143 deaths
    34 hours
Also, last boss took me 18 tries!

Havenít played this since beating Eli, went back into it tonight and for the first 15 minutes or so struggled a little bit... then I found a spear and fuck me I have been wrecking shit constantly now :) got to cloud nine and Gideon rock, grabbed the Gaia spear and am just going to town on everything I see. Am not quite sure what I am trying to do right now but it really doesnít matter as I am getting so many upgrade materials. The Gaia statues fucked me up first few times I fought them but now they are falling as though they are nothing.

TL:DR The game got good when I equipped a spear

@Graxlar_v3 Yeah, spears are decent and I'm kinda wishing I'd used them more.

Ended up settling on swords as my main weapon. Combination of nice fast attacks with low stamina use and moderate range. But spears trade just a bit of speed for a shitload more range, which could have been very handy.

I admitted defeat at Gideon's rock main boss and sold the game this morning. Great game but I'd hit a wall.

@Graxlar_v3 You're hunting a beast. First you need to find and activate 3 repeller towers. Then you need to kill said beast.

That's a shame Addy, but fair enough, he's a bit tricky.

I parked this at NG+ just after the prison as I'm going to continue when they finally patch the fucking crap graphics. I could have quite easily steamrolled into NG+ though as I was enjoying it.

Yeah the combat was great. Gideon's rock is a cool area as well. Bought code vein with the surge 2 cash so will start that tonight.

Iím about 6 hours into Code Vein. Feels more Soulslite than Soulslike. Difficulty is really forgiving by genre standards.

Controls needed some serious remapping to get anything that felt vaguely usable.

    Pretty, though.

    @Rogueywon

Not seen any complaints about default controls. What's wrong with them?

If youíre just coming off the Surge I suspect itís the attack buttons being face buttons rather than shoulders. It controls more like God Eater or Monster Hunter in terms of bindings - dash on RB, item usage on the dpad, that sort of thing.

    @uiruki

Just had a quick look at them and yes can see the change. Doesn't bother me at all. I'm used to all controls these days.

Eh. A third? Dunno. Half? Half.

    No. Less than half.

    Half?

What are you in, mk5 gear? Goes up to mk10 in Ng so you're probably half.

Delver is a bit under halfway. I figure the General is around the 50% mark. Though that's partly because more/bigger sidequests open up int he second half. On pure critical-path terms, you might not be far off the halfway point.

@Graxlar_v3 For what it's worth, you've now done the boss I found hardest. I took more deaths to Delver than any other fight, going from the end-credits stats. And not just by a little, but by a lot. A couple of the later bosses made me sweat a bit - General has some unique mechanics and the last boss is really in your face - but in terms of sheer amount of stuff to learn and counter, Delver is as bad as it gets.

Plus you should stick it because it's awesome.

In all seriousness though, it's not an incredibly long game in souls like terms and I do very much think it's worth sticking with. If you don't love it by now though you perhaps won't, in which case you might want to use your banking time for something else.

Like silent hill 2. Which I'm mentioning in this thread now. Because why the fuck not and it's still brilliant.

My phone changed gaming to banking. Maybe I should be banking? Ah. That's where there problem is. I've not been banking enough.

    That's banking. Not wanking.

Fuck, now it looks like I'm being rude.

@Graxlar_v3 There's a good bit of backtracking in this game. It has a pretty small game world - I'd estimate maybe half the size of the original Dark Souls and much smaller than the sequels. The distinction here is that the world evolves as you progress through the plot and previously explored areas can change look, feel and layout pretty radically. You've not yet hit the first of the big world-changes, but you're not that far off it either.

I actually think I had more fun with the combat etc in the second half of the game. I felt everything came together more.

@wuntyphyve Yeah, your higher power cap lets you get more into character customisation and the like. Plus enemies throw more interesting attack patterns at you, so the whole block/parry/dodge dilemma becomes more interesting.

Aye very much so. Plus of course it's the old "leveled up and full of piss and vinegar" routine. Confidence grows and deciding to try new weapons etc. Also some cool implants later on that encourage experimentation.

@wuntyphyve Out of interest, did you farm the gear-set from the red splitter-guys at the end of the game? From what I can tell, their gear-set is the best Operator-class gear in the game. I've got it levelled now in NG+ and it is fucking awesome. Plus it leaves you loads of spare energy capacity for implants.
