@MrAGSystems yeah it is quite shocking. As I say I soon got drawn in regardless but it's poor show. Must be quite a tricky fix as they've been on it for weeks now.

@MrAGSystems that's my recollection of the first too. A bit janky but looked really good. This looks pish. But in all honesty I thought it played so fucking well I overlooked it.

@Graxlar_v3 ha yeah I really took my time. I reckon 35 hours is the longest as I combed everything and everywhere

Yeah... this. I wouldnít underestimate how the playability covers over the cracks.

All done. 38 hours and 112 deaths. Most deaths to Gaia Statue of all things.

I didn't die to any of the last four bosses, I was mostly relying on health replenishment to get me through battles, it was not a very stylish way to do it but it was effective. Basically I face tanked those last four bosses and mashed heal. I actually feel like it was a bit cheap.

Anyway, it was a fun game which has been marred by the shitty lighting. Hopefully a patch will sort that and I will back on to NG+.

@Mr_Sleep Nice. Similar time to me. I was the same re: Gaia statue but I was very different with the last four bosses. My strategy, particularly for the final boss, was to mash death until I fluked past him.

I donít know how many times I did, my worst boss was little Johnny though.

I parried the fuck out of the final boss

@wuntyphyve thanks. Quite pleased with my run, I am somewhat annoyed that I didn't soak in the atmosphere a bit more. I was listening to podcasts and music while playing but I shouldn't have done that, when I properly focused on it a bit more there was some wonderful atmosphere, especially the tunnels.

I am looking forward to them sorting out the graphics and then having another bash and giving it my full attention. I also want to do more directional blocking as I was pretty poor at it.

My tactic for the bosses was to have implants that boosted battery as much as possible and then mash the health. The implant that avoids dying if battery is present saved me constantly, it almost feels like cheat mode.

@Mr_Sleep Yeah, the atmosphere in this is decent. It's not up at Sark Souls/Bloodborne levels, but it beats the hell out of a lot of other entries in the genre (Nioh, Sekiro and the first Surge). It's a clever idea to keep evolving the game-world as the story progresses. In the early stages, there are at least some vestiges of civilisation remaining around you, but that breaks down the closer to the end you get. Loads of nice little background details, like a 15% employment rate being considered "best in the world".

They've done more world-building than they strictly needed to here, most likely with the possibility of a third entry in the series in mind. I'd be very much up for that.

Picked this up, about 7 hours in. It's pretty good isn't it! In the end I've really enjoyed the battery/injector health mechanic. You die pretty fast but you're also never too far away from being able to top yourself off, either. I'm also finding as I go back to the city centre I'm opening a lot of ways back through to earlier areas and other bits and bobs. It does feel like a properly done 'big map'.

Into the second half now, progress has become very smooth. Got an Elite Series 2 controller, and Iím immediately finding the paddles super useful for jumping and running!

First paid DLC is out, along with details of the (fairly cheap) season pass.

Three items in the season pass:

    - New weapons (out today)
    - New armour sets (out next month)
    - New story module (out January)

So fairly quick and lightweight as these things go, but as I say, the season pass is at the cheaper end of the spectrum.

They have! It's not perfect but it's a million times better.
