Bit vicious. And uneccessary. Why would I be here to promote my music? I sometimes post in the musicians thread. That's it. I'd you can't be mature enough to say what you mean then get fucked.

Gremmi just wants Gremmi to be on the forum and NOBODY ELSE!

    Always been the same.

    Let's just love one another.

Joker sounds a bit like Winnie the Pooh.

I wish I didn’t read anything the guardian put out about the film. They genuinely feel that it has an alt right message when I saw it as a bit of a left because it tackled the dangers of cutting social welfare and mental health services.

It’s an interesting discussion regarding Batman that he’s from a wealthy background but he only beats up criminals who probably have come from a Joker background. So it’s just people reoffending.

Part of the whole Batman thing is that he had a hand in creating his rogues gallery in a self perpetuating cycle.

Batman Begins and Dark Knight both alluded to, but didn't go far enough, in showing how he perpetuated the escalating violence.

Having now seen Joker I cannot in any way see how one could read an incel/ alt right message in it. There's no violence towards women shown, he takes care of his mum and there's an overt attack on funding cuts and the treatment of mental health. It even has a fucking scene in the movie (and trailer) spelling it out.

It's wound me up a bit how, in saying it's about the alt right and incels, the likes of the Guardian are actually more likely to stoke the fire.

I can see a sort of angle, in that there's a fairly strong message of "society created this guy", rather than really forcing him to really take responsibility for what he does. And imo that's kind of a problem (assuming that it's not in his head).

Like, it's not worth a moral panic, but it's not perfect either.

Saw it last night. First time in a long time we've struggled to get seats and sat 3 rows from the front as it was packed out so had that weird perspective where the screen is right on top of you. Thought it was fucking great, score was incredible.

@RGeefe I was referencing more the character in general. It hasn't been done enough in films though, this is true.

Brilliant film! Going again next Saturday. I'm really pleased I watched this in IMAX. The film got applause at the end too. Not just the odd one or two people but from most of the audience which is unusual in UK cinemas.

Watched this immediately after Gemini Man. Ha! Ha! Ha! Bit of a difference between those two.

I can't remember the film, but one person tried initiating a round of applause at the end but no one joined in. It was cringey and embarrassing but he got what he deserved.

I feel weird applauding after any movie, but I'd feel a bit weirder doing it after this one.

There was a one or two down the row from us that had a muted applause to themselves. Fuck clapping for a film. It's one step away from cunts in America that whoop and holler during films. Fuck it off.

Here's how I ruined the film for myself -

    - Joker but Joker is Tommy Wiseau.

I must have heard "what a story, Mark" at least 3 times in my head after he laughed.

I watched it, it was very good, but I do think the incel reading, whilst blown out of proportion by some commentators is valid. The argument that he uses in the talk show "...you get what you deserve" is pretty much verbatim of what incels say when they justify school shooters or rapists.

There's also a valid left wing reading. But neither are the whole of the film.

I was wondering if the DC attachment was really necessary. If they had told near the same story without it being the Joker would it still work? I'm not sure either way.

Whilst Phoenix's performance is getting a lot of deserved praise, I do want to comment that the cinematography and score were pretty amazing too, and were critical in setting the tone of the film.

Been a fan of Hildur Guđnadóttir since her own albums years ago, but this score and Chernobyl's will see a lot of copycats over the next few years. (Sicario 2 is still her best film score though)

I think some people in the cinema missed the point, laughing at the Joker having his breakdown and commenting it was "like the funniest film ever" as they were leaving. I don't want to be a cinema snob but c'mon, how badly can you misread a film?

Apparently Dan Slott, comic book writer of Spider-Man, FF and actual Batman, has been receiving death threats and a petition has been started for Marvel to force him off Twitter for tweeting that he thought The Joker was shit.

Because that’s the world we live in now.

He really shouldn't have said "I thought" in the tweet though, that signifies that he's not really confident in his opinion

    ;)
