Registered 2 years agoI saw it. I think I liked it but my God its so bleak. It reminded me a lot of Requiem for a Dream, the fuck up son living with his mentally unwell mother with a TV show obsession.
Plus Joaquin and Jared are pretty much the same person, right? I mean, even before they both played the Joker -

Joaquin and Jared the same?
Eh?
I guess both pretended to be rock stars.. -
@Not-a-reviewer Isn't Joker the imagined version? -
Joaquin is supposed to be a nice guy. Kind of childish and plays dumb pranks on set and stuff. Leto has an ego the size of a whales dick and is also a creepy rapist. -

Registered 6 years agoI've never heard the rape rumours about Leto. I just thought he was a strange bastard. -
There was some pretty dark stuff floating around about him and his shit band. -

Even worse than being a rapist

One of the few films I found so shit that I turned it off halfway - and I sat through every moment of I Know Who Killed Me - this has put me right off watching Joker now

Registered 13 years agoLeto is easily the worst part about Blade Runner 2049. That's not relevant to this discussion I know, I just saw an opportunity to criticise Leto and took it. -

The obvious one, of course, would be to do Bruce/Batman. Delving into his psyche, exploring his psychological trauma/PTSD. It would literally be the other side of the coin from Arthur, where someone with mental health issues goes down the wrong path......but in a completely different way.

Thing is with the success of this they're apparently going to do standalones for other villians. Like who though? Have they got anywhere near as interesting a villian as the Joker in their catalogue?
It could even follow the same basic structure as Joker, where Arthur/Bruce slowly disappear and their alter-egos take over.
I would LOVE to see that movie......but I fear the overwhelming majority of the movie going audience would want to see BATMAN FIGHT!, BATMAN CAR CHASE!, BATMAN RECOVER FROM SPINAL INJURY IN SECONDS!, BATMAN DOESNT LEAVE CAVE WITHOUT CREDIT CARD! -

Better not push his luck, next he knows they'll be having him throw baseball shaped bombs and pulling out a meter-long gun. Or falling in a vat of industrial acid.

Actually, I could go for some of that myself. What happened to all the silly Silver Age villains?

Registered 15 years agoI'm genuinely not sure what they can do with a sequel that doesn't feel a bit pointless rehash. I get the appeal of the origin story, even if it's a character that never needed one.
But what happens now? He breaks out of Arkham, does some bad stuff and ends up back in Arkham? We know he won't get better, so is it just a case of following a now proven despicable character as he does even more despicable things, and close? -
Well if you can't think of a good sequel then I'm sure no one else can. -
Maybe don't apply for any writing jobs..
