Yeah, that was pretty great all in all. Excellent blue dong count in the final episode. Jeremy Irons was ace throughout. |

Registered 10 years agoOn thing I kept forgetting to do was read the Peteypedia entries - is that where the lubeman mystery was solved?(not counting IMDb)
Anyway - superb series overall. I had to suspend disbelief here and there, especially in the finale where what was basically a hailstorm managed to go through someone’s hand and bring down a floating metal thingamybob but not destroy the cinema or anything else.
But amazing overall. It’s a series that would have benefitted from a box set release and should have been released as such. It’s a fine close to what has been a banner year for TV miniseries. Next year is going to be a bit shot in comparison.
Suppose I should go outside or something. -

The whole thing was fucking brilliant. Best show this year. Gonna have a rewatch in a couple of weeks and see how it hangs together on repeat.
Ties with Succession for best season of the year.
Where next though. -

I liked that they let things settle down after the final "battle". -

Odd that he was even in the show. Did I miss something? What was the point of him being in it for those couple of minutes? How did it add to the story in any way?
Odd they didn't answer the real mystery in the show... who was lube man

I have to admit I gasped a little and failed to stifle a few leaks from my eye when she was cleaning up the eggs and found what she found... We all knew what the last shot would be, at that point, right?

Jesus, even SAYING the words "The Constant" makes me well up. Truly the most brilliant episode of LOST and one of my favourite stories I've ever experienced on TV. Just absolutely heart-breakingly fucking brilliant.
Tonka wrote:
It's about a guy whose consciousness is violently shifting between two different time periods, and he has to find a "constant" (love) in order to stop it.
I gave up on LOST midway through S02 so I've no idea what the constant was about.
Is it the predeterministic time loop stuff?
It sounds cheesy, but somehow isn't. It's similar to this in that it's basically a love story wrapped up in hard sci-fi. -

Oooh. Should I check out this 'The Visitor'? I never got into DS9. I know the main characters, sort of, but that's about it.
The Constant is really a superb standalone that you could probably watch after a quick read-up on the Desmond character that it focuses on. Fuck it's good. Totally floored me in the same way The Visitor did on DS9 years before that.
First two seasons of Lost are still gold. -

The music kind of gave it away. You just knew that it would smash cut to the credits when the lyrics kicked in.

You only need the basics for The Visitor. It's completely standalone and as a dad, it gets me there every damn time. Beautifully written, acted, shot, even the lighting is standout.

I'm a sucker for lost in time stories and this is as good as The Constant. Just find it and love it. 🙂 -

I took it as a win man! I lost anyway, MrsBob was pretty pissed off with me for spoiling it for her.
It was fucking brilliant trying to unlock this puzzle box, it's great that all this weird AF shit paid off for a change. I miss it already.
I hope they finish it there and pick up again in a few years with a new cast and story. Assymetric anthology seasons could really work well for Watchmen.
What a great year for TV. -

Registered 10 years agoJust finished it. Great soundtrack, great acting, great direction and editing...
...yet I still feel strangely "meh" about it all. Not sure what it is but I just didn't get much of an emotional response from any of it, save for episode six - which was absolutely fantastic. I waited for a bit of a back log and did the first seven in a weekend and I just felt nothing from it really.
I know I'm the outlier and I can see that it was well done but I just found myself struggling to care for any of the characters or plot, which is odd as I loved the comic. -

@RGeefe I honestly think this show has been better and more fun to watch for being aired weekly, so we could come in here, like the Olden Days and theorise together, talk bullshit and mock each other cruelly. 😉
I'm done with binging mediocrity. It's just a waste of time.
Watchmen was so intricate and layered it needed some time to sink in each week and cogitate.
Tl;dR
You did it wrong.
Cheers Tonks.
