@BinaryBob101 You raise a good point. Up til now I was of the opinion that it would have benefited from a box set release, and apart form the last two eps could have been watched in any order. But coming online and collectively going “what the fuck is going on?” has been a big part of the fun. Anyone gonna watch Westworld 3? |

Legion was excellent. I loved the surreal nature of it.

Registered 18 years agoI definitely prefer when shows air one episode a week, as opposed to the Netflix way. I like the theorising in the kitchen at work.
One of many highlights in this show was how Will Reeves made no sense the first time he started talking. Despite everything he was saying being true. When I saw it I was a bit annoyed by him being so mysterious.
That'll tech me. -

Registered 12 years agoSome shit is meant to be binged. It's McDonald's TV and just as bad for your brain. It's one of the reasons I've finished with Netflix and Amazon. I'll pay for one month and use up the good stuff in my own time, then cut them off again. But, stuff like Stranger Things has just become almost offensive to me, so I'm very selective now.
So, that final scene was hidden in plain sight from the moment the first poster dropped and we all though WTF is this shit?

Registered 14 years agoI don't think equating shows that are meant to be binged with McDonald's TV is fair. Some shows I think benefit from being consumer quickly (like a film), others from being spaced out. That has no bearing on quality though. -

Registered 14 years agoReally enjoyed watching this. Not sure we'll ever find out but anyone else think Angela will just fall in the pool? A sort of nod to Laurie saying that John doesn't tell jokes? Or is that silly? -

Registered 12 years ago@RedPanda87 I did say there was good stuff to be binged. I'll also be more selective next year with what I binge. I personally find Stranger Things to be McDonald's TV. Dark, also from Netflix, at least requires you to have some focus and concentration to keep track of wtf is going on. So yeah, maybe you didn't really understand there.
Also, honestly 95% of Netflix and Amazon is pure shite. The same can't be said of HBO.

Registered 8 years agoWow what a show! Have watched it all over the past two weeks, the last 6 this week and the last 3 episodes of which today. Sorry if that offends binary Bob, but the show just had me gripped throughout all I needed was the time to have and binge it I did!
Only thing that has me a little confused is the role of the senator and his plans re the white night and police wearing masks by law. -

Essentially his problem was that it was hard to be a white man in America and he and others wanted to change that situation by making him a white supremacist version of Dr Manhattan. -

Registered 8 years ago@JamboWayOh yeah I got the jist of that. It was the long play way about achieving that by the white night to get the cops to cover their faces that had me a little confused.

Registered 8 years agoI’m a bit behind everyone else; but I just seen the hooded justice epsidoe, my word; what an incredible hour of tv.
Best I’ve seen In a while.
Been on the fence up to then. Wasn’t quite sure what to make of it, I like that it is slightly surreal and retains some of the feel of the comic ( though Im one of those that can’t really remember it that well) but I found it a bit nihilistic too; although I’ve found it really compulsive viewing at the same time.. looking forward to seeing the last few episodes now. -

I hope I'm not going to embarrass myself here, but the masks came about independent of the senator. You'll remember it's the night where the synchronised killing of the police happened, that alerted the racists to the fact that Dr Manhattan lived amongst them. Jeremy Irons with his explanation that Dr M would forget his powers and how to use them, apart from as a reflex.
@JamboWayOh yeah I got the jist of that. It was the long play way about achieving that by the white night to get the cops to cover their faces that had me a little confused.
But it was the aftermath of the killings that made the remaining cops wear masks to protect their identities. Unless I've missed something fundamental, the masks were not a part of a plan, per se. More a by-product of the massacre and something else clever for the writers to explore. -

Registered 9 years agoWhilst I would love a second series it would have a lot to live up to. If it gets the go ahead then it shouldn’t be rushed but allowed to develop so it matches the first series. -

Tonks, I wouldn't even mind a couple of years production if the end result was great. Just let it all sit for a while, there's no rush. -

Registered 18 years agoThe time between the comic and now clearly gave the series some much needed room to work with.
If they follow up right now then we would expect to find out what happened straight after the closing shot.
Give it a decade at least. Let the showdown in the series become background for the next. Just as the showdown in the comic was for this.
I know this probably won't happen though.
How did the series rate in the end?

Registered 16 years agoFor the best, really. Just look what happened to American Gods after Fuller left. -
Or for that matter True Detective season 2 which they admitted they had to rush after the success of season 1.
Good writing takes time, this single season of watchmen delivered in many, many ways and I'd be disappointed (and I feel it may taint this season) if they rushed out a half baked season 2.
