Really sad story about Steve 'Mongo' McMichael being being diagnosed with ALS.

Oh man, it must be horrible to anyone but someone whose whole life and identity has been their physicality

They got so much shit for the Hardy bump last time that they went a bit overboard with Jericho bump.

That actually looked pleasant. Jericho looked so cozy. Like plunging into a mug of Horlicks.

@Baihu1983 Iíve seen the other camera angle and it makes it look a lot better. To be fair it is what it is, I donít see that much of a big problem with it

I think the big drop spot is a bit done. Theyíre never going to do it like they used to back in the nineties and probably rightly so. Thereís too much risk involved and so now you get the soft landings. Or Shane McMahon just turns up and you know heís going to jump off something so you go make a sandwich rather than watch the same thing happen for the forty seventh time.

I think the last good one was when Sami pulled Owens from off the announce table in that Mania Hell in a Cell match. It felt like there was real peril for the first time in years

For all the big drops over the years. None of them have shocked me as much as Kurt putting Shane through the KotR set.
The fact it nearly made Vince break character and stop the match is also something.
Not sure if him coming out to check on Foley was planned?

That KotR, Xpac match notwithstanding, was the nuts. It was peak Angle - he basically carried the whole card. And he needed to, as Austin couldnít carry anyone to a decent match at this point, Trips was injured and Benoit was gone for a good year afterwards as well.

Itís the one Shane McMahon match that actually sticks out in my memory. It helped that the set did not co-operate and saw him getting dumped on his head two or three times.

Is that the one where Angle kept trying to smash him through the glass and Shane just kept bouncing off?

Yeah then Kurt just grabbed him by the back of the head and sent him flying through it

Only got around to watching the drop. Just unnecessary really but donít largely see an issue. You want Jericho to fall onto a table and break his back instead? Come on guys.

No just for them to try and hide the protective mat. They keep messing up these big finishes

Or if the bump is going to look shit on camera, then don't do it. Or do it with someone less old than Jericho.

Just paint the other side of the cardboard and cut away from the impact. Same as the classic Shane crazy crash pad stunts.

    Just a little sloppy really.

Yeah props people need a boot. And the camera work was shocking. Either do a far camera shot of the fall or have the camera under Jericho so he comes towards the camera and lands out of view.

No issue with taking care of Jericho. No one wants to see New Jack style attempted murders. But yeah, it looked shit. It may be fake, but donít make it look fake.

Part of me is wondering if itís the reason AEW issues all the copyright notices against Botchamania. They just canít take being teased any more.

But I think they're still learning the ropes. It's easy for us to say you should do this and you should do that.. mostly because we've seen WWE production for years. Go back to old TNA and I'm pretty sure you'll see similar lazy spots.

Also how many times have we seen in WWE someone go through boxes by the entrance ramp?

The whole Hardy bump from last year has clearly had an impact on how they deal with these things now. It also doesn't really matter as long as the talent aren't getting multiple concussions.

Instead of Tully stealing a key from a ref, he should have pulled the cell wall off by attaching it to the back of a pickup truck carrying a bed of sawdust.

I remember you could clearly see a crash mat during that Rikishi fall, but the extra layer of smoke and mirrors surrounding the Vince/Stooges angle helped obfuscate things a bit more. It also helped that you had five of the biggest names in wrestling ever in the ring (plus Rikishi).

The line always seems to be 'would you rather we actually did this and someone got hurt' from AEW, so i'm not convinced they're all that inclined to learn from this and improve going forward.

Nah that Rikishi fall wasn't great either.

Well I think they will learn from this. I'm trying to think of stuff in TNA. Remember when Raven got his head shaved by Father James Mitchell? Did we see that again? I think captbirdseye is right in that they have Matt Hardy in their heads.
And did no one comment on the excellent tumble Darby Allin did? No because it's far too easy to shit on something than comment on something well done.

It doesn't help that there's juxtaposition of having really brutal looking spots (even the LAX guy falling between the ring and the cage made me wince) and bloody matches that are just treated as by-the-by, and then the supposed big spots which close out the show and end up looking ridiculous in comparison - the exploding ring being the obvious one.

With the Big Show around I'm surprised they haven't wheeled out the WWE's collapsing ring yet.

Oh shit! That shaving head segment was rough.
