Actually, if you think that’s a coincidence, the woman who works in our local post office was in the same restaurant as us in Cornwall last week. All right. You can have the win. |

Registered 15 years agoQuick little update. My dad is still in hospital now. He has been moved to a hospital with a specialist ENT team, to help him with his speech therapy. Last week, for the first time in 61 days (!) he has had his first solid meal. Which is great, because he had not been able to swallow up until this point. And if you can't swallow, they don't discharge you. But yes, things have been trending towards a positive ending since the first week in hospital, way back in October. But progress is slow and steady. But great. -

Registered 15 years agoThank you for your kind words, gents.
@smugla Sometimes, there are no words. I am very sorry to hear about your father. That is truly awful. I wish there was something that I could say. All I will say is I'll keep your dad and the rest of your family in my thoughts. And wish him all the best for whatever comes next. -

Registered 17 years agoMorning all I was not going to post and even then I was not sure where to post but here seems a good place.
I lost my dad last Thursday and although ill (he had IPF) we were told he had between 3-5 years. Well he must have been diagnosed late as he was told early last year and as I say he passed away 12.12.19, eight days after his 71st Birthday.
Luckily when admitted he was fully conscious and "all about" so we all had time to see him, he thought he would be coming out...Which is very upsetting. he did deteriorate very fast
though.
I, well me and my sister, (I have 2 but one doesn't cope that well) have been doing a lot of running around since then. My mum is coping well, although divorced, she and my dad where friends and saw each other weekly.
They were married 37 years, having got married at 16!!!!!
Anyway, Carpe Diam fellow EGers

Registered 15 years ago@Doomspoon Thanks, 'spoon. I may get my brother's kids to start playing Pinball FX2. To beat your infuriating scores. Let the feud be passed on to the next generation. Because I'm petty. And better! -

Registered 15 years agoTo bookend this thread, my dad was able to lead a service again for the first time since October last year, this past Sunday. He invited the consultant who operated on him, to speak.
And finally, this is what it looks like, after a man has almost lost his life and spent 85 days in hospital. His voice has lost all of its bass, but we are lucky to still have him.
