One thing that really irks me: How can organic creatures block a lightsaber? I mean, a lightsaber can cut through metal doors, but not through some oversized rat or goat? Actually, the same goes for the prison droids: An astromech I can cut in half with one stroke, but not the prison droids? Apparently there's a limit to my suspension of disbelieve (who'd have thought?). Also, I really suck at the combat in this game ![]() Edited by Red_Bool at 13:37:43 03-12-2020 |

Registered 17 years agoI’m in the post-campaign mop up phase now. 100% on Three planets. High 90s on the rest.
Whacking the difficulty down to story mode has, admittedly, made it a little easier. -

Registered 14 years agoYeah, the exploration and occasional fights are great. It's just that when it becomes crowded and/or confined, the controls just don't gel with me.
Perhaps lowering the difficulty to Jedi Knight will make it more fun.
(by the way, I did complete Dark Souls and even got pretty far in NG+, which is something I usually never do, so I know I'm not completely rubbish)

Registered 19 years agoShame that there is quite a big drop between story mode and Jedi Knight in terms of difficulty. I’m pretty much rinsing the areas for tickets so can’t be arsed with more difficult opponents now, but the drop is quite noticeable. Almost feeling guilty that I’m playing too easy.
However, one crate is proving to be an arse - involves a lamp and a slide. Not sure I will try many more times... -

Registered 17 years agoYeah - as I've been encountering the bounty hunters in story mode and blitzing them in seconds, having had my arse severely handed to me on several prior occasions at Jedi Master difficulty, I feel like a proper chump. Not enough to turn it back up, mind you.
Given that there's no penalty for lowering the difficulty, one wonders why they didn't just give you control of the sliders for your damage, enemy damage, aggression, and parry windows. Seems like a no brainer. -

Registered 8 years agoJust picked this up for £11 and thank goodness I didn't get this at launch. The combat is very light and floaty, certainly not like souls as some reviews suggested 🙄. Not keen on the very hit and miss platforming sections which are most of the game so far. The ps5 upgrade is rubbish, I get a lot of stuttering. Disappointing. -

Registered 12 years agoMy whole view of the game is tainted by the overuse of those sections.
I generally enjoyed it, overall, but was sick to the back teeth of them and started to massively resent every time i had to do another one of the fuckers. -

Registered 8 years agoThe sliding sections, and few bugs like the stuttering brought this game down. But I would have played more had they been inclined to release some DLC. -

Registered 18 years agoI’m about half way in and can only stomach it for about 1hr a time at the moment and/or until I get to a “save and respawn” required... trying to maintain the willpower because I’ve read the second half is punchier
Likes so far:
BD-1 very likeable
Being in the cockpit for taking off from planets is ace
Soundtrack
Cutscenes and general ambience nails the Star Wars theme
Good voice acting
Dislikes so far:
Lack of charisma with main character
Floaty combat and movement
Fiddly controls
Average level design
Terrible map
Save points
Cookie cut enemies with a lot of re-skinning
Lack of enemy movement within zones... they must stand around doing nothing for most of their days!
Lack of environmental effects (fall in water in an area you cant swim and no effects, just like falling off an edge of a map)
Worst of all... respawning enemies after saves if healing even enemies populated in a way to support a story flow. Takes me right out of the feeling of playing a real story and feels more like I’m playing some sort of training simulation (such a poor design choice)
6/10 for me so far. If it wasn’t Star Wars it would be a flat 5.
Hoping second half might bring it up a point or 2 if it can get more focused than the first half.
Every hour spent with it just reminds me how much better Uncharted/Last of Us is than this!

Registered 17 years agoThe respawning is sort of key for the souls-like aspect. It’s not a straight action/adventure like the ND games.

Registered 10 months agoCan't remember who said it here, but any time I see Cal I can't help but think he's got a bad case of the mumps.
It's all very well being a souls-like if you've got a great combat system, but this game felt flaky at the best of times. Its saving grace is that you've got a lightsaber, so tend to look past the weak combat because YOU'VE GOT A FUCKING LIGHTSABER! -

Registered 3 years agoI’ve half abandoned this mostly because the combat is pretty lacklustre as mentioned above. Perhaps playing through Ghosts of Tsushima prior to this has it in my head the combat is poor. And the major issue with the Souls like bonfires is that because the combat is poor, then I’m not inclined to play it on a harder difficulty. -

Registered 18 years agoTo be fair I’ve not enjoyed and souls-like game I’ve tried so maybe it’s a bit harsh if that is what they were trying for but I still think it would make a better action adventure game. -

Registered 15 years agoI absolutely loathe Souls games. Can’t even play them. Yet I love Jedi Fallen Order. I think they have a few things in common, for sure, but no way is this a Souls game. -

Registered 15 years agoit's definitely one of the 'souls but...' genre. This one being 'souls but uncharted'. The basics are there. Parry and dodge combat, incremental progress, shrines, respawning enemies and all that. -
