Registered 6 years agoOne way of looking at it. Another way to look at it is fuck him. Should somebody who pretended to have terminal cancer to get attention in a thread which documented the death people's loved ones really expect to be able to to weasle himself back into posting here?
There's a pretty simple way for him to stop this "harassment" and that's to get fucked and stop posting here like literally every person here wants him to. -

Fwiw I think it was a shitty thing for this person to do, but I don't think it's worth getting hung up on it months and months, even years after the fact. Getting over it will be healthier for you, and healthier for this place in that will help it not get clogged up with spite.
But hey, I've been here long enough to know that the people here need their regular two minutes hate for someone or another. If it's not this guy it's someone else. -

Registered 9 years agoWhether someone "deserves" something or not, doesn't really figure into my opinion about these things. I don't know the guy, or his situation, or the context of anything. I just prefer an environment where we're not constantly hounding after people (unless those people are continuing to act dickishly).
Though I guess having this is better than derailing other threads. Usually the way that goes is
1. People are having a normal, productive conversation about bowel movements or something
2. The hated one posts something, either through their own name or a different one. The post might be normal, might be flame-baitey, but it doesn't really matter
3. Whoever keeps a mental list of re-regs recognises them and does the Donald Sutherland Body Snatcher scream
4. The lovely conversation about bowel movements gets forgotten in the rush to spend the next few pages telling the person to fuck off
Sure, it could be avoided by the hated ones not posting at all. But ignoring them is also an option for the rest of us, and we almost never take it.
