Registered 6 years agoYeah should be good, Armando Iannucci is great. Wish they'd just made Hugh Laurie's character English though, always find it jarring when he's doing an American accent despite him being very good at it. -

I really like Iannucci's stuff but I'm not sure about him doing a science fiction comedy.
I'll give it a go though as he has rarely put a foot wrong.
He should get Jason Isaacs in it. He was recently the best thing in Star Trek and his comic timing in Death of Stalin was on point. -

Registered 12 years agoYup, looks really good. Agree with Decks, though: would've preferred Laurie without the accent. -

Registered 16 years agoI know he turned down like a dozen serious offers to make it, but I would have liked him to make his Trueman Trump joke tweet. -

Registered 15 years agoI got used to Hugh Laurie pretty quick in Veep. Nice to see lots of other Veep and The Thick of It cast in this. -

Did anybody watch this ?
Downloaded it on sky last night and will definately be watching more.
The realisation of Hugh when he loses his shit about avenue 3 was brilliant and the tall thin guy from silicon valley is fantastic

Seeing as he voices the snowman in Frozen, Jack Black is probably the Poundland version right now.
The Poundland Jack Black guy is pretty awful, mind. -

Registered 10 years agoI thought it felt pretty compressed. There wasn’t much time to register anything of what was going on. And seeing as comedy is all about
timing, it’s a concern. Hopefully they can relax the pace for future episodes. -

Registered 6 years agoThe only positive thing I can think to say about it was Hugh Laurie being English. Not one joke landed for me. -

Registered 10 years agoAt least it’s actually trying to be a comedy. So many “dramady” style programmes hide behind the drama side of the curtain because it’s easier to write about grief etc than it is to actually make things funny.
I blame the success of Fleabag, personally. -

At first I thought they were going to be a little homage to the couple from Father Ted, but they offer literally nothing.

But my biggest bugbear is Rebecca Front as a Yank - who signed off that casting? Like Decks said, at least they handled Hugh Laurie's accent well. -
