Registered 15 years agoSit at your dest and extend your arms, put a ice cream cone in each and wave them about at your desk with a blind fold on. If ice cream made direct contact you need more room.
But in VR things get broke or coffee spilled etc.
If you chair has arms its not ideal, but a stool more suited and most stuff is playable in options or stated on steam.

Oh I can make sure there's a good metre of space in front of me if needed, but its more about being able to play siting, and mostly facing one direction.

It can be all 3 - sitting down, standing up or roomscale. It caters for all.
Quick question to all you guys who own and have played this.
Can you play it siting down, at your desk or does it need to be in a large clear space? -

Registered 15 years agoYou can turn it into basically PSVR if you want yeah, not ideal but if it works for you. -

Registered 15 years agoOptions for crouch and stand from the main menu, its loads of options split into 2 places in settings and covers it all with explanations.
I turned it on and within half hour using sticks to walk I grabbed a seat and carried on as I didnt feel 100%, sat down I feel makes it easier to stomach. -

Registered 17 years ago@Velios It's fine but you do need to wear your glasses. Depending on headset they may not fit or really push your glasses onto you nose.
I have and old pair of rectangular raybans that are ok, my current pair aren't usable. -

Registered 15 years agoI can’t wear my glasses with the Index, have to put contacts on. No such problem with the PSVR. -

If a midget was to play Half-Life:Alyx would they feel like they were sitting down the whole time?

Registered 11 years agoPlayed about 2 hours last night, was really looking forward to it and yet wat not disappointed. Like the opening shot immediately it looked really good. Would have preferred smooth turning but it’s been fine really. Playing at 120fps on Index on a 1080ti on high and not noticed any hitching.
Can’t wait to get back in it. -

Registered 1 year agoCould someone help me out?
I'm pretty new to VR only got one back in December and maybe used it 3-4 times due to feeling offish when playing Asgards Wrath.
What settings should I run this on to get the best experience?
I'm using a 2080TI with a i7-7700k
Do I change settings in game or through steam?
What's the best setting in terms of movement and looking round?
TIA -

Registered 17 years agoIts really dependent on personal preference. I have never got motion sickness so always use free movement but others do so teleport. In terms of settings i have fiddled but the auto detect is never far off though i have found you can move it up a tad. -

Try the 'shift' style of locomotion, if it's still too much then blink. Stick to snap rotation (along with physically turning your body where possible). -

Registered 6 years agoWell I’m finding chapter 3 very overwhelming -
Yeah, it is fucking bleak man. It's absolutely brilliant though. I sorted out my performance problems and I'm now at the start of chapter 4 I believe. Man it's so good, incredible really. -

Registered 17 years agoMight be the different headsets but for me the quest is absolutely fine with glasses - possibly because of the spacer that comes with it. Its also very subjective, people engage with vr very differently. -

The answer to this question is.....

It depends on your prescription strength.
It depends on the focal distance of the headset you use. (As an example I don't need mine with the Vive but I do with PSVR because their focal point is further away).
It depends on the design of the headset, some are horrible to wear with glasses. -

Interesting because I find the quest uncomfortable with glasses and I gave up wearing them when I heard all the horror stories about scratched lenses.

I got some prescription lens inserts for my CV1 back in 2016 and still use them. I have a pretty low prescription but wanted to the most crispy experience.
