MORE LIST THREADS LET'S ARGUE SOME MORE You can include streaming things, but those things should have multiple episodes. Maybe it's preferable that the thing both started and finished in the 10s, though I won't get picky if there's a bit of overlap. Some things have been going forever and ever, after all (looking at you, It's Always Sunny) I guess I'm really asking about shows that have actually finished too, though again do what you want. I'd include The Terror, for example, even though it's still going. Because each season is like its own story. Anyway, mine are 1. The Americans 2. Spartacus 3. Banshee 4. Justified 5. Breaking Bad (though it started in 2008) Tell yours to the Reedpop hive mind. |

BB, GoT, Justified and Banshee are all good shouts.
Broadchurch season 1 and Line of Duty seasons 2 and 3 were amazing. -

Detectorists
The Killing (original, 1st series only)
Lost (terrible ending aside)
Planet Earth 1 & 2
You could say that after Lost I essentially gave up watching TV shows. I'm only really interested in very short shows that have a few episodes. I have no time or patience to watch 100 episodes of stuff that has been essentially designed by committee to last as long as possible. -

You should maybe give a few shows a go. TV has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Mostly, long gone are the days of 22-26 episode seasons. Most are 6-10 these days. A few shows go on too long (walking dead ahem) but I think you're missing out on a lot of good stuff.

@JoelStinty
Perhaps, although I usually think about what else that seems more interesting or fulfilling that I could or should be doing. I just lost the habit more than anything and as I'm getting older time seems to pass quickly.
Years ago the first thing I would do when I got home would be to switch on the telly, though there were obviously far fewer entertainment options, say 20 years ago. Now I only put it in if I've decided to watch a specific film. Nothing wrong with watching tv if it fills what would otherwise be dead time or if you find it rewarding. -

Registered 18 years agoIt's just a different form of entertainment. Sometimes it gives writers and directors more license to develop characters and plots over film. But of course, sometimes that's taken too far.

True, I'm not knocking tv at all. At its best it's a fine art form that can make a big impression on folk or change their world view. I find it just not for me at the moment (mostly as people I know seem to keep dying these last couple of years...which I've found really focuses one's attention). Anyway, carry on telly listing!

Looking back and through the rest of these lists makes me realise that, in the golden age of TV, I didn’t watch anything that wasn’t a half hour comedy or didn’t have a wizard or aliens in it. -

Yeah. Tv is hard work these days is so much time needs investing - I tend to stick with episodic stuff or mini series -

Definitely this. Something has to be really good before I will stick with a long series these days. Who's got time for that.
