Itís a little rough, noticeable frame drops. Far from unplayable of course. Also it does look drop dead gorgeous though so there is that.
You can tell it wasnít quite right very quickly.
Of course this is from a brief 20 min play of the demo, will see how much of an issue it is on release.

Xbox x version is exactly the same performance as the demo according to DF. Hmmm.

Edit. Just seen you said the same thing. Doh.

It's kind of annoying though why not make it 60fps like the ps4 pro version or like Resi 2? It's baffling.

Yeah, as Iíve said before I get the impression eastern devs just arenít all that fussed around such things. Although Iím not sure if resi is even made in Japan anymore as itís such a western game.

Nah, it's made in Japan, they've taken essentially all their games in house since the debacle of last gen where they gave everything to western studios and made some proper shite.

I think I might chance it and see if I can get a physical copy from Tesco on Friday morning.

Shame it didn't get an "Essential" on EG's review, because I could have argued that when someone tells me that games aren't essential.

@ZuluHero - cheers, I thought it was a bit bizarre..

The digital version is available for download on the PSN store now. The main game + Resistance are about 24Gb each.
I'll never play Resistance. Do you have the choice to download the main game only?

You can download just the one on xbox at least. That's what I've done. Online doesnt interest me.

@richarddavies Likewise. I only want the single player campaign. Thanks for your answer.

Steam code arrived. Downloading now. Edit: can't preload on Steam yet, wtf.

Won't be getting much work done tomorrow at home!

It only takes five hours so you can complete it and still work for home all in one day.
  • Deleted user 2 April 2020 09:49:54
I'm expecting it to last as long as 1 A or B playthrough of Resident Evil 2.

I've double platinumed that game (PS4 & PC) and there isn't that much difference between A&B campaigns, or even characters, bar cut scenes and the tedious middle bits with Ada and Sherry. It's all superficial bloat. Tofu and Hunk are good fun, but they don't take very long.

Which is absolutely fine for £35, given I will probably end up platinuming it this too.

Basically, not arsed about length. I was more disappointed that there aren't many puzzles. The original RE3 was more action focused but it had loads of puzzles still.

I mean, the rate you go through games, isn't that true of everything you play?
  • Deleted user 2 April 2020 10:01:05
    I'm still really excited.

What was the reaction like to Resistance from the beta? I haven't seen or heard anything much about it.

Just got my code from cdkeys - nabbed it quite cheap, so the short length doesn't rankle as much.

I'm betting a new record of a 15 minute watch of a Youtube Let's Play.

Haha. Once, ONCE, I watched the last chapter of days gone on YouTube as it dragged and dragged as everyone knows. Now every time it's mentioned like I always watch YouTube videos and don't actually complete games. :). The big problem was mentioned because I posted a mini review in completed games and even admitted that was how I saw the ending, even though shit loads of paid journalists don't finish games and still publish reviews. :). Love the bants. The original point still stands that this is about five hours with no alternative paths. So it can be done in a morning then work from home stuff, bit harsh for a full price game.
  • Deleted user 2 April 2020 10:29:20
@Bichii There alternative paths (B sides) in RE2 remake consisted of skipping the first 15 minutes of the game, it dumps you on the other side of the police station and gives you access to 2 key items at the start (bolt cutter and turning valve). That was it really, the rest of the game is identical to the A side, bar the final final boss which is just an additional cutscene basically.

I really enjoyed 2 and generally the reviews were excellent. The three reviews of 3 I've seen, from my favourite reviewers, have all said wait for deep sale as there's nothing to bring you back after five hours. So I'm looking forward to that sale. :).
  • Deleted user 2 April 2020 10:35:55
    Fair enough.

£35 quid seems perfectly fine for me. It's not going to be any cheaper for about 12 months.

I wouldn't have paid £55 or whatever it is on Steam.

I wonder if they have a team working on resident evil 8. I'd love a new one in a similar style to these new remakes.

@Steve-Perry £35 on cd keys. Still a bit steep for 6 hours and no re-sale value.
  • Deleted user 2 April 2020 11:33:24
RE4 would look great in this engine. I doubt it would happen though, the HD versions still hold up pretty well.

The story is absolutely shit though. One thing it always gets a free pass for. Save the presidents daughter, that cackling child, that rambo guy. Terrible.

RE2 and RE3 remake? Sure why not. RE4? Absolutely no need, leave it alone. I'd rather they make RE8 or failing that, a remake of RE0 or Code Veronica.
