Registered 16 years agoOoooh... and Valkyria Chronicles 4. Though that's slightly cheaty, as all of its best tracks are either lifted or lightly adapted from the original game, so this is just me sneaking the 2008 original into eligibility via the back door. -

Both incredible, really added to the games and I still have them on in the background whilst working.

Not the most obvious choice but I agree wholeheartedly. The alternate future-past versions of pop songs are plain amazing.
Bioshock infinite
The audio in that game is phenomenal in general. I particularly like how they created the 'creepy ambient background noise' for certain sections, look it up if you don't know. It's music/singing (though not quite a song) slowed down about 10 times. -

Persona 5
Xenoblade Chronicles (all of them, really)
And Octopath Traveller. Absolutely gorgeous soundtrack.

Registered 15 years agoI seem to recall Drakengard 3 having a good soundtrack. Could probably throw Nier Automata in there too... -

Registered 6 years agoIt feels like cheating because it's more song based but Tetris Effect has a fantastic soundtrack -

Registered 4 years agoBreath of the Wild. I love how it had lots of sprinklings of sparse music/sounds that added so much to the atmosphere and then it had a bunch of themes that were the polar opposite - completely apeshit with 46 obscure instruments making woo woo noises.
Ridge Racer 3D - the only proper ridge this decade, so gets into the top 3 by default.
Thumper, because it's so intense and scary. -
Doom
Wipeout
Guacamelee
Alan wakes American nightmare
Street fighter IV
Super meat boy
Battlefront 2
Donkey Kong tropical freeze -

Registered 12 years agoI want to add Alan Wake, actually, just because of all the licensed songs at the end of each episode. If that's cheating, well, fuck it, it's my thread. -

Registered 16 years ago@Ror That's not cheating. If I really wanted to cheat, I'd go for Super Robot Wars V, but only with the optional soundtrack CD (sold separately and installed to the PS4 HDD). When you've got Villkiss! Kakusei!, Kanjite Knight and Gundam 00's battle theme, you've got a very, very good soundtrack for a mecha strategy game. -

Registered 16 years agoOh yeah, and Ar Tonelico Qoga was this decade as well (28/01/10). I preferred Ar Tonelico 2's OST overall, but Qoga did have Exec_Cosmoflips, which is pretty much the ideal track to end the world with. -

The end of the first chapter where it plays In Dreams by Roy Orbison was fucking brilliant!

Registered 16 years agoThe music in Alan Wake is pretty damned good. Forgot that one. Licensed vocal tracks still count.
Also, while mediocre overall, Control had that one awesome track that played in the cigar maze thingy. -
Dunno what the actual Alan wake is like, American nightmare is what I’m putting forward - twilight zone style -

Registered 12 years ago@ERG1008 Every episode had an amazing song! In Dreams, Haunted, Up Jumped the Devil, and then the two Poets of the Fall songs (well, technically Old Gods of Asgard for the first, but you know...) The Poet and the Muse and War. And then capping it off with Space Oddity.

I quite enjoyed some of the optional bosses in Control (and hated some others).
