    Some interesting commentary on Infinite

Basically, what we have all said, just more detailed.

Halo has always looked kind of crap though so I'm not hugely surprised infinite wasn't the best looking thing ever.

I am surprised by how much of not the best looking thing ever it is though. It's strange.

Split screen 4K/60fps... I could trade some fancy looks for a silky co-op couch experience.

Forgive my ignorance here if this has already been covered within the thread but i have a question ...

Game Pass - if i subscribe do i get everything that comes out on the new console or is it title specific?

Will some games be Games Pass and others not within the same eco system?

Think only microsoft games, and games from publishers who agree for microsoft to put games on gamepass will be on there.

for example, EA games will never be on it, because they have their own EA Access thing

I thought that would be the case ... I`m seeing a lot of coverage stating the strategy differences between Microsoft and Sony but if its First Party / Partnership based rather than blanket then the strategy is a tad ... flimsy?

If this is a success and Sony are suffering i guess they will simply do the same.

Ubisoft and EA already have their equivalent for a similar price. Not sure if Steam or Epic would do the same, unless it was mainly their own published games plus a few others.

Sony sort of have their own version already, it's just not quite as generous as Game Pass. It would be fairly easy for them to offer the same if they chose to, but I imagine this strategy is quite expensive to implement from lost sales until the number of monthly subscribers reach a certain number.

Microsoft are doing it as a loss leader no doubt. They have buckets of money sony simply do not.

Game pass is amazing and its clearly an excellent value proposition. In a couple of years when the recent acquisitions actually start churning out series x games it might even make the series x essential.

I'll still get one myself due to having my library on xbox but sony have done a better job of showing the new shiny.

Maybe keep my PC gamepass and buy a PS5 for hoovering up the exclusives to broaden the reach?

Where do people get the free time to play all these games to a point where paying for Game Pass makes sense? I had no idea a game could "leave game pass" until I tried continuing playing Fallout 4 and it had buggered off, only to return after I bought the bloody game.

This is one of my big issues with these sorts of services, same with PlayStation Now. The number of times Iíve picked up an old game Iíve had my eye on only for it to go on PS Plus a month or two later, I just know anything that hasnít JUST been added to Now will disappear halfway through me playing it. At least with plus once youíve added it, youíve got it until YOU choose to end the sub.

I let my Game Pass lapse a couple of months ago (I'd got the £1 offer after last E3) for pretty much this reason. It's a phenomenal service but not even counting all the Games with Gold or things I've given up on, there are still at least half a dozen games I own outright that I want to complete. I'd rather get through those.

The frustrating thing was I was halfway through Gears 5 on Xbox and Gears Tactics on PC when it ended!

I think I'll pick it up again, maybe when I get a Series X. I know my kids, who aren't really fussed about completing things but like trying new things, enjoyed quite a few games on there. And if I really feel like splashing out, I'd love to have GP Ultimate just for the xCloud stuff.

I take a slightly different view on Gamepass, for me itís not being able to play 100s of games, more that Iíll save money.

Assume Iím paying the monthly sub of £10.99, so this is £132 a year, I only need to play 3 games a year for the service to represent value.

In the last year, not always to completion (but if I bounced off a game Iíd have bounced of it anyway, Iíd have been pissed off if I spent £50 on RDR2, bored the pants off me) through GP Iíve easily played more than 3 games that I would have bought.

Add to that playing some things I might not have purchased, Lonely Mountains Downhill being my favourite example of this, and thereís no doubt Iím net positive.

If anyone is likely to play just 2 MS published games a year then itís a no brainer because thereís no doubt from the large selection that youíll find a third.

Yeah, this I think. Until we see Sony actually do something game changing with the super fast SSD (and assuming itís even that much faster in practice) the Series X probably has all the other avenues covered. That Ratchet & Clank Demi really didnít sell it to me.

As we know though, just being technically better doesnít count for squat if thereís fuck all worth playing on it. :)

    @Fourwisemen

Altho as a PC gamer anyone who pays 132 for 3 games is a nutjob

Yeah it's not about power, it's about games, and Microsoft has....mostly more sequels to old franchises declining in popularity and interest.

    I can only hope....

But could it be because half life alyx is coming to Xbox?

The HP Reverb G2 vr headset is being released later this year and is a collaboration with MS and Valve. It is the only headset that Flight Simulator will support at launch.
