They actually can, by just naming it that. The argument about stupid people not understanding doesn’t hold up with the current naming conventions anyway. It seeming less than the completion is true but it’s still more simple than the mental gymnastics required with what they’re doing. |

Nintendo Wii says hi. Worst name, top seller.
A console can live and die off its name and called it the xbox Series X is just stupid. Cant even fathom why they would call it something so incredibly similar to the last one. Also not really sure I'm digging the 2 game cubes stacked on top of each other look.
End of the day though it's about the games. If they can provide that, then I'll be in. -

If it's significantly cheaper and still has the same CPU and SSD, I'd probably consider that. -

Its really a bad bad name. -

It's not that, that's the issue. It's the fact it's almost identical to there last consoles name.

It's got the same problem as the now so-called "original Xbox" - you cant shorten the name. You have to say "Xbox series X" all the way through or you're accidentally referring to a different console.

Registered 14 years ago@JamboWayOh if they update the CPU and give it an SSD, it could make for a good Xbox Series S.
Not everybody has a 4K screen yet, and given that I'm pretty sure there will be another mid-gen refresh, getting the top-of-the-line model might not be necessary just yet. As long as I get a stable 1080p, everything else is gravy.
Although, for development concerns, I'm pretty sure an eventual S would be based on a cheaper Navi instead.

Registered 14 years ago@JamboWayOh having an SSD as the standard would give devs a lot less headaches in terms of optimizing files for a mechanical hard drive.
Maybe it could be like 250GB in the S, and 1TB in the X. -

Which is impossible for everyone that already owns one, so would make it the dumbest thing to do to new models - how would they message that some Xs are new and some are old, and the capabilities of each are wildly different?
@JamboWayOh if they update the CPU and give it an SSD, it could make for a good Xbox Series S.
I can't see the current machines being an entry way to new games unless they're developing every game on all platforms, which means you'd also be able to use all current gen models. It's a messaging shit show. -

I'm picturing trying to explain all this shit to my mother in law when she wants to buy her youngest one next Christmas. I'm actually going to have to have this conversation with a woman in her 50s
