Hmmm. So much for cross-gen games running at 60Hz...

As a fan of mostly single player story based games I think Sony have proven the best in this area. I am lucky enough to have both the PS4 Pro and XBOX but I think unless Halo blows my socks off I will go just with Sony this time.

As long as my One X can get releases for a while I’ll probably go Sony and play a bunch of stuff I skipped on PS4 like Detroit, Horizon, GOW, etc

@ratso I felt the same way about the Senua game at the series x launch. Big turn off - seemed like a poor choice.
I thought it looked awesome, but I did play - and enjoy - the first game.

Game Pass means I will be getting an Xbox Series X. It's just such a great deal and I enjoy trying games I would never have bought.

Here's the thing. Nothing I've seen so far has got me in the least bit interested despite all the claims of MWOAR POWAH etc.

    So far.

Yet I get the feeling when I see the footage of Halo Infinite and the other first party games I'll just be totally onboard the hype train.

Why does it have to be like this over and over again? Buy the ps5 if you want to play with the games made for that platform. If you want to play xbox specific games, play on series x.

It has gamepass. You don't even have to pay for MS studios' games. You can decide which system menu, services and benefits you prefer.

Also the games won't change drastically in the first couple of years on any platforms. So you can choose based on trust or you can wait until the release date and find out which platform has a better "package" for you.
Just don't make this an xbox vs. ps thread.

@imamazed I know, but I encountered with several similar posts on other forums too and I've just paused my read-only status.

You realise they’re caning Gamepass right now because of the ground they’re making up on Sony though, right? Gamepass as the bargain it is today is by no means guaranteed next gen.

I don't think that's anything like a given. Microsoft as a business are moving as much of their offerings to subscriptions as they can, but those subscriptions need to be attractive to the end user to be worthwhile.

I expect GP to be better next gen, just by dint of their first party expansion.

If you mean you expect the cheap deals to go away, then I can definitely see that. But by that point they will probably have convinced enough people that it's good value for their money. They're over ten million now, they'll want to push that as far as they can with attractive introductory offers to get as many people in the door as possible and create positive word of mouth around the service.

Yeah, that’s how I see it. Plus I’m bought up for two or three years or something silly so the cost argument is punted way down the line. :)

Who knows what MS will pull out of the bag. I've dismissed them for the same old same old. Not played any of the Gears games since 3 (I think) and I only like the Forza Horizon games as opposed to Motorsport.

People have been going on at them to produce more new original ideas and they're certainly not oblivious to that. I'm interested to see what Rare come up with. Yes, they're not the same team etc but there's something about them that I just really like and I'm always rooting for them.

I suppose my dream team old game revival would be...

    New Perfect Dark
    New Fable
    New Project Gotham
Oh and we did a deal with Nintendo. Coming out on both platforms...Goldeneye!
    All available launch day.

    Goddam!

Rumours heavily suggest you'll get the top two.

As for the rest, it's more than fair to say they've had a shocking generation. When Xbox was under the Windows div and being starved of resources by Terry Myerson, everything got cut back. Just two years ago, they had 5 first party studios. Now they have fifteen and a seat at the adults table.

I mentioned a couple of pages back that they've announced five new IPs over the last year. There's no reason to suggest they'll stop there.

It's a tough one i'm still very happy with my one x, but probably leaning more towards the series x, as i'm more invested in their ecosystem these days even though i'm a bit of a sony fanboy. Having said that my og ps4 is definitely much more in need of an upgrade.

New news, back comparability stuff. Main thing for me is an innovation that enables select 30fps games from the 360 and XB1 to boost up to 60 or 120fps with no work from the developers. Nice!

Micrsoft are absolutely doing everything I want in order for me to buy an X - they just need a killer exclusive along the lines of Bloodborne or something else that appeals to me and I'm all in.

For me the controller is the most important thing. Both will have great games but whenever I switch from an Elite controller to a DS4 I feel a palpable sense of disappointment.

You can get third party adaptors for the controllers, can't you? I've never really looked into it myself.
