I'm the same as yourself. I've actually never played a Kojima game unless you count the first 15 minutes of Twin Snakes.
That being said, objectively this is a massive move for Xbox. Kojima has always bene intrinsically linked with Sony, and it'd be a huge loss for them if this were to be true.

It will be interesting to see if MS keep their paws off the game. If they start micro-managing Kojima's vision, he will probably lose it in a very public manner.

I can't see it, because Kojima has too many ties at Sony.

It could be a multiplatform game though. And who knows, maybe Sony wasn't satisfied with Death Stranding?

Think all this is more likely to be about Death Stranding coming to Xbox via gamepass...also a next gen version that will release at same time.

What's in it for Kojima? Death Stranding did the numbers on PS4 and PC, it wouldn't ever have been difficult to make it run on an XBOX but he chose not to. Unless he was goading MS into backing The Money Truck up to his house? :)

If MS offer the funds that Sony canít.. then itís a no brainer for Kojima.

Exactly, if he is getting his funding, he won't really give two hoots who it comes from. Maybe in a situation where both parties were offering a similar level of funding he would opt for Sony given he himself is Japanese but if MS bring the money dump truck he'll gleefully accept.

@mikew1985 he lives off his reputation. If his next game doesn't sell well, he could have trouble finding another publisher, or at least the publisher will be able to contract a lower price. So he'll want to make games on a platform where they will sell as much as possible. Given the choice, he'd probably go for Sony even if MS have him more money.

Not sure what would happen if Ms gave him *a lot* more money, but I don't think that is in their plans for Game Pass.

The most recent theory Iíve seen is that Sony werenít happy with overall DS sales and donít see massive value in locking him up for exclusives.
Days Gone and Tsushima, etc, sold more, and they donít have to pay extra to get those out.

The average life of internet comments is two nanoseconds before they end up sounding ridiculous anyway.

You're working under the assumption that anyone massively cares one way or the other? It's just one game maker. Zenimax going to MS was big news. Kojima is just fanboy fodder. #Shrug :)

@Derblington the new article on the front page seems to imply that they weren't satisfied with Days Gone either, which makes me wonder what kind of quality and sales standards you have to meet to be a Sony studio nowadays.

I wonder if games like Gravity Rush would even be greenlit if they were to be made today.

considering Sony Japan that made Gravity Rush is no more... I reckon no?

Is this not the inevitable place for Sony to end up though? People laud their blockbuster exclusives, so that's what they're gonna continue to make. Might be a little early to ring out the death knell for creativity in Sony though - the Astrobot pack-in suggests they've got their fingers in a few pies.

But yeah - why make Days Gone 2 and when you can funnel cash into Uncharted or TLoU for guaranteed bank?

Has Kojima made an actual good game with solid, interesting or even innovative gameplay in decades*? Endless nonsensical cutscenes with terrible plots doesn't cut it nowadays.

*I haven't tried Death Stranding but it looks pretty wank.

Death stranding plays really well, the story I thought was quite good too but told with typical Kojima idiosyncrasies so YMMV.

All of the MGS games play well (admittedly some better than others) and have really cool and innovative features in them.

All the ones I have played have been super solid games in their own right.

MGS5 has excellent gameplay. The least Kojima of all the Kojima games.

Yeah, Kojima games are generally extremely good to play, often with idiosyncratic systems that people might not get on with because ultimately they're extremely game-y. Things like the way balance and momentum work in Death Stranding when you're carrying a lot of stuff on foot.

I have that downloaded to my PS5 to try actually, I know that MGS2 and MGS3 were spectacular for their time but I did complete MGS4 and it was nice looking and mental but ultimately nothing special. I'll end up buying Death Standing on a PSN sale anyway as I'm hopeless.

It's basically the best stealth game of all time.

Watching Sky or bt is classed as inactive by the series X? Always switches off when I'm using the apps.

Iíve never ďgotĒ Kojima because I was Sega my whole life before converting to Xbox, so never played any of the Metal Gear games growing up.

MGS4 was my first Kojima game when I (eventually) picked up a PS3 - unsurprisingly, it didnít click with me mainly because I (surprise surprise) didnít know what the fuck was going on.

I much preferred MGSV, which felt a little more ďstandalone-ishĒ and absolutely loved the gameplay, thought it was sublime....but the story was absolute bobbins.

So, Death Stranding was my first proper entry point for a Kojima game because it was a new IP. You either loved or hated the gameplay (I fell into the category who loved it) but, again, the story and the writing I absolutely cannot stand.

I understand there is a language barrier there, but I genuinely think his writing and dialogue are atrocious....but he really does have great ideas.

As far as the Xbox thing goes, I think Death Stranding is a given at this point, especially seeing as 505 already brought it to PC....but the rumour was that heís working on something ďnewĒ for Microsoft.

Is it a new IP....or do Microsoft have the balls (cash) to get Silent Hill off Konami?

Guess weíll find out soon enough....

I think there are lots of people who'd be willing to sell their relatives into slavery for Snatcher HD, or even just a port to any modern system.

Snatcher was a big part of my childhood. Never got why they haven't released it. Doesn't even need a remake really. Just a port so more people get to play it.
