@Vice.Destroyer nice. Just to say, though, that I get slightly faster than that (about 280 Mbps) on my *wireless* connection. Twice that if I wire up as I'm on an 800Mb line. So with a better router you might also be able to get that speed without needing the cable.

Obvs if your router is close to your console it's a non-issue. Mine is on the other side of the gaff. :)

@Phattso I am feeling wifi-envy. That's fantastic wireless throughput. Re: faster wifi, it has to be said that if I am in the same room as the router, I get the same speed wirelessly as wired. But my house is clearly not wifi-friendly.

As an aside, is it possible to swap out the BT router for a different one? I thought that was not possible. If you can, how would you set it up?

@Vice.Destroyer I don't have your particular setup, but I believe it's possible to basically turn the BT/Sky/Whoever's unit into modem mode only, and kill the wifi. Then just connect a router of your choice to that via the WAN port and you're done.

I'm with Community Fibre, and they actually supply a standalone modem plus a Linksys Velop router which has turned out to be quite decent.

I used to run my own router when I was with Virgin Media back in the day, so it should be doable for you now should you want to.

edit: on my MacBook I actually get 500+ Mbps, which I thought was actually pushing beyond what WiFi should be able to do. Dunno how, but what few downloads I do on the fucker are absolutely lightning.

Weren't the Lego games previously 30fps? That's quite the leap.
I've been meaning to complete Lego Marvel 2.

Has anyone else's game pass rewards disappeared on the rewards app on console? Not sure if I'm missing something but can't for the life of me find them anywhere.

Prey, shadow of the tomb raider, and Deus ex mankind at 60fps have me interested.

@Phattso The more you know. I am starting to feel like I could have saved myself a fair bit of laying and fastening CAT6 cables with pin staples (35m worth!!!), if I would have liaised with you first. Boo. Oh well, you live and learn. Next time.

Hmmm..Iím pixel-peeping, but Iím sure Far Cry 5 is down-rezzed from 4K on the XSX. Shitter as it was a One X Enhanced game. I may be wrong.

@Vice.Destroyer still plenty of benefits to having hard wired network connections. No wireless contention with all the other devices for one. If youíve taken the pain, reap the rewards. :)

Your right, it's running the Xbox One version when using FPS boost so 1440x1080

I really wish they'd make it clear which games take a hit in resolution when turning FPS Boost on. I tried FPS Boost with Fallout 4 and it was considerably less sharp.

I'm more concerned with one x enhancements to quality rather than 4k vs 1080 but still yes, it should be a bit clearer as to what you're giving up.

I'm surprised that far cry 5 had to take such a big cut to resolution to achieve the desired effect tbh

They do make it clear. If FPS boost is on by default there's no concessions (eg resolution drop). If you have to manually activate it then it means it'll boot into the Xbox One version and you'll lose out on the 1X upgrades.

    https://majornelson.com/fpsboost/

Any One X enhanced title listed as "off by default on Series X" on this list is running the base Xbox One version.

Basically, if you have to enable FPS boost manually, it's reducing the resolution.

    EDIT: Beaten to it!

AC Unity is quite nice at 60fps with HDR. Almost makes me want to go about the roofs of Paris for a while, maybe complete a few of the missions I didn't get around to the first time.

They should FPS Boost the original Yooka-Laylee. It was always kind of disappointing that the console versions ran at 30fps.

The only avenue Microsoft have to control resolution is to enable/disable the One X enhancements. Which sadly means we're stuck choosing between two wildly different rendering resolutions, when really a drop to 1800p from a native 4k game like Far Cry 5 would probably get the job done nicely.

Just is the way it is sadly, anything else would require code alterations.

I get that is basically one mode or the other. I am just surprised it needed any downgrade when it's going to 60 rather than 120

Doubling frame-rate isn't always a given sadly, even with 2x the GPU power, amongst other things there's likely memory bandwidth constraints in play, especially on a Native 4k open world title like Far Cry 5.

Spyro Trilogy (which my kid loves) is crying out for a 60fps boost. Can't believe it's stuck to 30 even on the One X.

Well, well. First time I've joined the '60fps is fantastic' crowd. Currently trying out Sleeping Dogs and it has to be said, the difference is very noticeable. And very much better. Wow. Interesting and awesome.

Having had series X for a few weeks, I'm now finding it pretty tough to go back to games at 30.

Hopefully they'll do Dishonored 2 soon... Unless it being missed from the first big batch of Bethesda games means it can't be done...

Yeah same here, regards going back to 30fps. I was initially knocked out by how well Fallout 76 ran on the Series X, before I found out about the fps boost, but after a few days of 60 fps, going back to unboosted now looks jerky and washed out.
