Most of the level from the TNT Evolution half were good, the Plutonia Experiment half however went too heavy on spawning ridiculous numbers of tough enemies behind you whenever you hit a switch or picked up a key.

Still got Doom 64 to play, but I'm all Doomed out for the time being.

What a weird sequel. The closest comparison I can think is Blood Omen 2, which shares similar themes, although that game was slightly more balanced and not influenced by the obvious "aloof daddy protagonist" trends of the 2010's. As you might expect of an unnecessary sequel, the story starts well enough but quickly becomes ridiculous.

I wish I could say at least the gameplay is good, but unfortunately that's not really the case. The semi-open map is a mess, the stealth sections are terrible all around, and while the combat system is good enough, the enemies become pretty irritating after around the halfway point. Irritating enough, in fact, that you'll be glad that most battles can be skipped by simply running away. The bosses are usually fun enough, at least.

I have to give the devs props for the option to disable QTEs. You can actually enjoy the cutscenes this way. Well, what little there is to enjoy, anyway. Not all are bad. Some must have even been inspired by the likes of DMC, because seeing Dracula ride an exploding fuel tanker through a church glass was something indeed.

The game is quite a bit shorter than LOS1, because that one was more linear while this sequel can be finished fairly quickly if you don't care about the side content. I can't see my playtime, but it must have been around 10-12 hours total, compared to 15-16 for the first game.

    #14 - 10/04 - Murder By Numbers (Switch)
    #15 - 16/04 - Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)

Wow, what a disappointment that was. Anyone who moans about XIII being linear and then praising that needs locking up!

It isn't a bad game by any means, when it's good it is very good. But so much filler, the character models of all NPCs are so stilted like FFXV and the changes they made were really quite poor.

Ah well, straight back onto the genius that is Persona 5 Royal now, that will be a supreme pick me up :D

Three years after abandoning this game through boredom, I started over and absolutely loved it this time. Good story, and combat that takes a while to gel but is fantastic once you unlock all the different types of ammo and learn each machine's weaknesses. Does have a bit of unnecessary passing like most open world games, but I'm glad I gave it a second chance.

So that is the 3 main games done over the past 3 weeks, I will do the BaS dlc in the coming days.

I had forgotten large bits of BS3. I enjoyed it BUT it is too shooter-centric or it least maybe due to all the various guns it seems more "shootie" than the previous games.

    Currently playing

    ps4
    Borderlands 3, lvllvp .
Batman AK (PS4) played about 2+ hours, not feeling it yet
    Alpha Protocol (ps3)

    Xbox:
Shadow of war, although not played for couple of weeks
Sniper Elite 4, downloaded via GP, have and loved on ps4.

I have ruined my prospects with this challenge by playing Divinity: Original Sin 2. Given that I started the year with RDR2, youíd think Iíd have learned my lesson.

Looks at three main "in progress" games (PC, handheld, console in that order), Assassin's Creed Odyssey (inc DLC), Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky SC, Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise.... I have similar problems, although getting towards the end of all 3 at around the same time...

Way to trample on my rose tinted glasses. The short length I can forgive, it's a Gameboy game after all, but the cookie-cutter level design and easiness to the point of boredom was not something I remembered. Then again, I last played it more than 20 years ago.

    #11 24th Apr Bloodborne (Platinum)

What a game. Used the Axe and Whirlygig for the whole game. The most challenging bosses were the defiled dungeon dog and walnut head, in the main game I had the most trouble with Ebrietas and it was the only boss I used Co-op for. The second challenge was Laurence but I eventually got used to his attack pattern and put him down.

I think Nioh 2 sharpened up my dodging and parry skills, but I enjoyed Bloodborne way more! Its a 10/10 game for me.

    8. Assassin"s Creed Odyssey (PC) (25/4/20) (8.5/10)

Hadn't planned to go from first to last game but I enjoyed the free trial and had an Epic voucher to use (and gets it on uplay free too) so...

Completed main game on normal with almoat 100% of (nonrandom) quests completed, all targets dealt with, all synchronisation points and I thought all of the map (stats say 99%...). I didnt milk every map icon and did about halfof the ostreka quests I collected. All tombs completed. Took about 105 hours though...

Game world is very pretty (and suits ultrawide monitor) and the story was interesting enough too. I played as Kassandra who I liked overall and I think I got a reasonably good ending with survivors but definitely not the best one. Exploration was quite fun and combat system was decent enough. Liked the 'special' encounters adding a new element to the series (not played Origins yet). Also completed the free Greek DLC quests and going to do the 2 paid for ones too. I completely ignored the engravings element of the game as I saw no need for ir.

Still also playing TitS SC and a little FotNS:LP.

Puzzle survival horror lite. The last Tequilaworks game I had played was Deadlight, years ago, and this game does feel a bit like that. The visual design also vaguely reminds me of Evil Twin, but not nearly as creepy (let's face it though, aside from the art, Evil Twin was very crap).

The story is predictable as they come, and the cutscenes look terrible too. The vocie acting also isn't very convincing. But... the game is fun enough, even if there are obvious issues: the puzzles are almost always obvious, there isn't much variety, and sprinting lasts all of three seconds before you have to catch your breath. But well, it's only a few hours long, and it was free with those two months of Pro. Worth playing, I guess.

Regarding Stadia, my expectations were subverted: I thought it would have good video quality and bad latency. As it turns out, latency actually remains low all the time, meaning the game technically always stays playable, but unfortunately video quality itself gets real bad quite often. Macroblocking is not exactly fun in a dark game. Overall, Stadia doesn't deliver. The advantages of Stadia - not having to wait for the game to install - seem minimal next to the drawbacks.

Completed in terms of I don't think I'll play it as much now, I've put in over 20 hours and I just can't be arsed! Seen some people online have put in over 200, in some cases over 400 hundred hours and respect to you, no idea how. I'll maybe dip in and out on Sundays if I remember to try and make money quick but otherwise, bored of it.

Been ill over the last week so barely played anything really, been smashing Picross S2 though and got a bit of time in on Banner Saga on Switch, only done a couple of hours on Persona 5 Royal. Hoping I'm getting better so I can get back on that, should have hit 90 or 100 hours on that by now but still around 75.

@Humperfunk I reckon a good sign of completion for AC ( aside from boredom ) is to have K.K on your island and see the credits otherwise my boredom with a game means I have successfully completed Doom Eternal.

Bloody excellent. I got about halfway through about five years ago on Xbox but it crashed and lost so much progress I never went back. But picked it (and the second) up on the Switch cheap and so glad I got back to it.

Will play something else in between that and the second game...no idea what as got about 20 games on Switch that I want to get stuck into!

And finally finished off' Kazuma Kiryu cosplays FOTN'... Did all sidestories exept the 100 million money and the 2 'all others done' ones that require it. Didnt bother much with colosseum and did all Races bar the Advanced of the last race (did the story ones though). I barely touched the talisman system. Has the usual Yakuza balance of serious(ish) main story and silly substories. On normal. The final section was challenging though as a lot of fighting and I didn't prepare quite enough high healing items bit pulled it off. 43 hours, 96.25% of substories but only 50% achievements (in game) and 52% trophies.

Game is an interesting experiment using the Yakuza 0 engine. The combat got a lot more repetitive than the average Yakuza game by the end though. Story was nice enough for someone who has no FOTN background (I got this as it is Yakzua not because it is FOTN). Some fun minigames and the buggy exploration adds something too.

Also been playing AC:odyssey DLC and more TitS SC.

Still way behind schedule on completed games...

Lovely game, iím pretty sure you can set your own goal for completion with this ( 5 star island, complete museum, all recipes, 100% everything, get all the fruit, K.K performs ) but iím happy enough to keep playing as my missus loves it so we can swap new recipes. Iíve seen the credits roll but its one iíll keep playing.

Still great even 15 years later. OG Xbox games don't usually age as well as this series did. Still, I do have some issues with CT, even though it's often the most praised one. Since you are supposed to be able to approach your objectives in several different ways, many of the obstacles lose their teeth - any camera can be disabled infinite times, any keypad can be hacked with ease, enemies almost never outnumber you by a lot, and there are few truly dangerous gadgets like heat-sensitive turrets or trip mines. Also, the opportunity objectives usually stick out like a sore thumb, and the open ended levels can be confusing. It's a bit closer to a sandbox stealth instead of puzzle stealth like the older ones, but I liked that style a bit better, even if some areas were unfair (the final encounter in PT totally sucked).

Anyway, at this point I'm only missing Double Agent, which I've never played. Got the OG Xbox version digital on sale, heard it was closer in gameplay to the old trilogy. I'll be on it later.

Played this yonks ago on the ps4 and it still holds up as being an absolutely brilliant puzzle game with a great (though not perfect story) completely forgot about RIn being a transgender character so that took me by surprise too

In terms of endings I got the Katherine one again where we get back together. Kinda realised halfway through though that she's a bit dull really so I'll probably have another play through to get the Catherine infinite nights of anal ending.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes puzzle games/atlus stories.
Probably should get around to playing Persona 5 now but I want to have a go on Horizon ZD first.

@Splosh loved Catherine, ended up getting all 13 endings! Didn't when it released previously but when I played the new edition I was absolutely compelled to.

Horizon ZD essential game to play, however speaking of Persona 5...

    #17 - 28/04 - The Banner Saga (Switch)
    #18 - 03/05 - Persona 5 Royal (PS4) Platinum

Persona 5 is no longer the game of the generation, as the Royal edition has predictably smashed it out of the park and taken its place. A masterpiece, 107 hours of utter brilliance. Amazing how 33 hours on FFVIIR felt like a chore, yet over 100 hours on this flew by in comparison.

Back to Yakuza 2 I think but might play a relatively shorter game in between - started Modern Warfare Remastered a few weeks ago so might pile through that.

Also got the PS3 out so really tempted to replay MGS2 and 3 back to back...

A great way to wrap up me last 3 weeks spent in Rapture and beyond. All games still totally hold up. 3 is probably the weakest of the series but it is still a great game and looks stunning

    9: Assassin's Creed Odyssey (xb1) beat on 03/05/20. Score 8/10

Well to be honest that was a bit of a slog, I started on the day it released, so been playing it off and on for over 18 months! usually with AC game I play from start to finish with in a very short space of time. I found this one to be too big maybe ? and too much of a grind, hence taking very long breaks of not playing.

Once I did pop the end cheveo my in game time was 65 hours (strangely on the actual xbox app it states 4 days) and I was level 43. I did not purchase any booster packs in my playthrough.

There is much to love about ACO. The world, once again Ubi is stunning and in Kassandra we have maybe the best ever Assassin ? The story was ok, nothing more and the missions were a mixed bag, of course, no problem there.

What I will say as these games seem to be moving further and further away from the actual DNA of what an AC games is, or should I say was, that is a shame.
The "game" is no poorer for it, I just wish we had the new worlds with maybe some of the old intrigue...not following missions though ;)

I have tens of missions still to do, discovers to find, 20 shards to my spear to find/collect...etc,etc. in reality I will unlikely do this as once I have "beaten" a game, as in got to the end/credits it is hard to stay motivated, but I am not done just yet and there is the small measure of all the "Gold edition" things I have yet to play.

    Currently playing:
    Borderlands goty,2,3
    Onrush
    Mafia III
    RotTR
    Gears.

Finished the first main DLC if AC Odyssey, Legacy of the First Blade. Mostly more of the same with some new characters to play with. Had a few nice touches although the story was a bit railroaded. Didn't outstay its welcome. Finished all new stuff for it. Now for the final DLC (and finishing off TitS SC)

Not a bad game. Seems to have been forgotten by a few people. Probably the best story of the Devil May Cry games ( thatís not to say much ) but the gameplay is solid but not a patch on 3, 4 or 5.

Looking forward to trying the Virgil missions.

Game of the Generation. Possible contender for Game of All Time. At 111 hours for my playthrough, has essentially ended any chances of me getting through 52 games this year - and I don't care.

Weird game, probably the weirdest I've played in a long time. It's such a bore to play through, putting it on Easy is more or less the only way to cope, and even then it's still going to be a boring slog. Even the story, while interesting, is nothing especially mindblowing in the first part.

But if you persist (and that includes having to play through the game again with some minor differences), the second part does things that few games would have the balls to attempt. Even if there are still tons of anime tropes randomly thrown around, and it's still a slog to play through.

I'm glad I've played this game. But I don't want to play this game ever again. In other words, it was the perfect Game Pass title.

Given all this, at the very end, I said yes.
