It started with a cry for help... It then devolved into an apocalyptic orgy of wild gaming abandon. It needs must evolve into the perfect blend of challenge, ridicule, thoughtfulness, insult, and a calming sense of self improvement. It's a shame then that there's an unabashed shower of piss blankets signed up to last year's challenge who are being unceremoniously yanked into this year's effort (against their will, fuck you, GDPR). There was no fuss, but had there been and were you to wonder what it was all about, it's not too late for newcomers to get on the bandwagon. Mission: stop buying shit you won't play, stop abandoning things you're playing for shit reasons, and be the best darned gamer you can be.* * or I'll fucking cut you THE OFFICIAL PIGWHIP 2020 RULES * may be subject to minor changes / clarifications just in case we misheard the Mighty Duck the first time PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT IN 2020... You have 3 slots for the Pigwhip Challenge: this means you can have a maximum of 3 games on the go at any one time. You fail the challenge if you have 4 games on the go at any one time or if you have 3 failed slots. Boo hoo. You win if you make it to late December 2020 without overstuffing yourself. ALL newly purchased games, backlog games, dlc, expansions, season passes etc. count. It doesn't matter whether it's a new game or an old game, gamepass, game compilation, humble bundle or whatever else. Rules lawyering is sure to invoke the wrath of the Mighty Duck...so don't even try it. As soon as you buy or otherwise obtain or install a new game, it counts. If you start playing a previosly uncompleted old / backlog game, it counts. If you can't be bothered to play a game you just bought in a sale, that's your lookout. The box can gather dust on the shelf and it will still count. Pre-orders count as a slot filled in all but exceptional cases. Those cases have to be presented as a plea to the Duckbreaker. The Duckbreaker may be benevolent in cases of limited edition pre-orders that would sell out before release. WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND ABOUT A GAME? Trial Period for Indecisive Sorts: There is one exception. You can test out backlog / humble bundle / gamepass type games for a couple of hours in order to see if you want to put them on your list. If you play a game for longer than 2 hours, it goes on your list and takes up a slot. WHAT IF I'M A WEAK WILLED NO HOPER AND GIVE UP ON A GAME? Failed slots can be recovered via the performance of good deeds (in games or otherwise). So if you choose a game you don't like and abandon it like a cry baby because it's too hard, you better get on your knees, beg for forgiveness and tell us how you're going to atone. If we're suitably impressed by your good deed we might evacuate your slot. WHAT IF I HUMILIATED MYSELF IN 2019 WITH A HORRIBLE PIGWHIP PERFORMANCE? A Clean Slate for 2020: If you made a mess of things in 2019, we won't hold it entirely against you. Just say if you want the misdeeds of the past to be banished and never spoken of again and your shameful record shall be expunged. WHAT IF I'VE STILL GOT A BUNCH OF GAMES ON THE GO? If you're happy to continue with your tail end of 2019 stuff, that's ok. BUT....only 3 games, mind. None of this 5 game luxury stuff, so you might have to drop something off your current list. Sorry about thatNO WE'RE NOT! This does mean you're going to have to pick and choose games MUCH MORE CAREFULLY, but there you go, that's life and it's not fair. Beat at least one game in October, November or December to survive. Fail by 20th December and all you have achieved in the PWYGGWYP 2020 Challenge will be like tears in the rain. You get a nice tick when you are safe.

Registered 13 years agoHmmm. I was good all last year (never went over 5 and even kept my purchases to 10 for the year) but I am 100% going to treat myself to a couple of things in the sales now. In fact I already have, after finding out they were giving away Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair for free on the EGS. (Not technically a purchase, but still)
If we aren't starting afresh and we don't get a wee bit of post-Xmas leniency, I'm afraid I'm out before this even begins! -

Registered 14 years agoSince the end of last year’s competition I received Pokémon Sword for Christmas and bought Banner Saga 1 and Ori and the Blind Forest. So depending on the rules you choose I may have already lost.
I was working on the principle that Red Dead 2 could be dropped as it was bought in the 2018 competition and I only included it (and 4 others) last year to punish myself for failing 2018. And that I could remove Enter the Gungeon as it is simply to hard for me.
So my thinking was that those 3 new games plus DOS2 and Ring Fit Adventure would form the start of my 2020 list. (If I entered).

Registered 12 years agoI might sign up for this year again, depending on the rules. My aim is to finish off the games I have in progress (most of which I’m still playing from the 2018 challenge) then move on to do something more productive with my free time so I’ll be setting myself a low hard-limit if I do. -
Just started Witcher 3. Looking at the map and the area I've played so far, I think this will do me for 2020. -
