NEW PIGWHIP 2020 RULES INCOMING!!!
How come the overlord is called DuckBreaker and not PigWhipper?
PigWhipper is his evil twin, will reveal him(?)self when the time is ripe.
I desperately need to curb my spending due to a house move in summer so will be hitting the backlog. I'll attempt this year's dependant on what it is.
I'm skint this year and for the next ten or so to come, so I'll also be saving as much as possible. I'll have to follow whatever evil strictures the evil Duck Overlord imposes.
Behold...the holy word of the Mighty Duck in The Sky has been received from upon high and interpreted by the collective wisdom of the High Priests of Pigwhip.
THE OFFICIAL PIGWHIP 2020 RULES * may be subject to minor changes / clarifications just in case we misheard the Mighty Duck the first time
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT IN 2020...
You have 3 slots for the Pigwhip Challenge: this means you can have a maximum of 3 games on the go at any one time. You fail the challenge if you have 4 games on the go at any one time or if you have 3 failed slots. Boo hoo. You win if you make it to late December 2020 without overstuffing yourself.
ALL newly purchased games, backlog games, dlc, expansions, season passes etc. count. It doesn't matter whether it's a new game or an old game, gamepass, game compilation, humble bundle or whatever else. Rules lawyering is sure to invoke the wrath of the Mighty Duck...so don't even try it.
As soon as you buy or otherwise obtain or install a new game, it counts. If you start playing a previosly uncompleted old / backlog game, it counts. If you can't be bothered to play a game you just bought in a sale, that's your lookout. The box can gather dust on the shelf and it will still count.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND ABOUT A GAME?
Trial Period for Indecisive Sorts: There is one exception. You can test out backlog / humble bundle / gamepass type games for a couple of hours in order to see if you want to put them on your list. If you play a game for longer than 2 hours, it goes on your list and takes up a slot.
WHAT IF I'M A WEAK WILLED NO HOPER AND GIVE UP ON A GAME?
Failed slots can be recovered via the performance of good deeds (in games or otherwise). So if you choose a game you don't like and abandon it like a cry baby because it's too hard, you better get on your knees, beg for forgiveness and tell us how you're going to atone. If we're suitably impressed by your good deed we might evacuate your slot.
WHAT IF I HUMILIATED MYSELF IN 2019 WITH A HORRIBLE PIGWHIP PERFORMANCE?
A Clean Slate for 2020: If you made a mess of things in 2019, we won't hold it entirely against you. Just say if you want the misdeeds of the past to be banished and never spoken of again and your shameful record shall be expunged.
WHAT IF I'VE STILL GOT A BUNCH OF GAMES ON THE GO?
If you're happy to continue with your tail end of 2019 stuff, that's ok. BUT....only 3 games, mind. None of this 5 game luxury stuff, so you might have to drop something off your current list. Sorry about thatNO WE'RE NOT!
This does mean you're going to have to pick and choose games MUCH MORE CAREFULLY, but there you go, that's life and it's not fair.
Feel free to retract any of your ill-considered witterings of what you're currently playing prior to this post appearing. Enjoy

Um, so... if someone didn't participate in the first one and was possibly interested in joining in, what do you do? The OP does not really give much indication here.
EDIT: well, that showed me

Do online MP games count as a slot or say a fighter I've already finished but like to have the occasional game on when I've a spare 5 mins? If so can I have 3 slots plus a casual game slot? 😂
Previously completed games do not count.

Who the fuck is SockBreaker?
Yes, pick up to 3 games. Choose carefully. Three long RPGs would likely be a mistake, for example.
Well I'm 24 hours into DQXI and half way through RE7 so to kick things off are:
1: Dragon Quest XI
2: Resident 7
3: Ghost Recon Breakpoint
Clean slate for me please.
As things stand, from my empty 3, Iíd like to fill one slot with my current Ďin progressí game - Children of Morta.

As per 2019, you don't always have to complete a game. If you've put a decent amount of hours or effort in, it was agreed that it comes off the list. No need to count old games that you've given a fair go.
@rice_sandwich edited my post as I read back over a few posts and got the answers I needed
So I have... already failed? Ouch.
Definitely holding me back from dropping some money on the eshop sale before it ends - especially as Iíve been tempted by Divinity OS 2
No, just pick up to 3 games to start with.

Iíll happily carry on with the two (rather lengthy) games from last year. Iíll make time to play them at some point or, you know, die trying.
Saying that, I installed Jedi: Fallen Order this morning so thatíll have to be added to the list.
rice_sandwich wrote:To stay true to myself Iíd just complete one and put the one I take off now in its place. Surely that makes no sense? Iíd much rather start off with 4 and have to complete 2 to be able to add another one, if thatíll be allowed?
No, just pick up to 3 games to start with.
Edit: ah, ok, my slate is clean now, no sense doing that anymore.
In that case my games are:
1. Dragon Age: Inquisition
2. Xenosaga Episode III
3. Death Stranding

Can red dead be removed please. I sold it last year which is why it was never completed

I notice that the Mighty Mallard has updated the first post with the rules, and the second post with the new, more svelte, three slots instead of five.
It looks like said Mallard also took the opportunity to work a Christmas miracle and clear off some games that were in people's slots to make it all fit. Gripe and complain here and the Mighty Beaked One will be sure to make whatever changes (or slate cleanings) people want.
Hmmmmm. Posting style is awfully familiar.......
Well I kind of finished Pokťmon Sword last night. (It said THE END on a black screen but I have not caught them all).
So my starting list is:
1) Ori & the Blind Forest
2) Banner Saga 1
3) Divinity Original Sin 2
Of which I am currently about 10%, 0% and 70% through.
This does mean that Ring Fit Adventure doesnít make the cut and my waistline suggests it should.
I can add Ring Fit once another is completed if the thread chooses.

Thatís some mighty prompt list updating there! May your enthusiasm last until year end!
Or you could well argue that Ring Fit isn't really a proper game? It's a health aid.
