Project Diva Mega mix released in Japan today, there's a demo. Thankfully you can change the glyphs to PS symbols so it's not like starting again.

It's coming out in the West in the near future, and I imagine it'll just be menu translations so shouldn't be too long. I'm going to wait for that.

Good to play with Miku in portable mode though! I can take her everywhere with me. But not in a creepy way like that guy who married her hologram like I saw in that channel 4 documentary last night ;)

Portable Miku ^_^ I will also wait for the Western release (and maybe get back to Future Tone while I wait).

I'm feeling very, very guilty for being tempted by Azur Lane: Crosswave (out tomorrow). I know it will be absolutely terrible. But even though its anime adaptation desceneded into production-disaster (with the final few episodes delayed months), it earned a lot of goodwill with that "Enterprise, Engage!" sequence in its first episode.
I was right! It's pretty terrible. It's an odd one in that in many ways, it's not dreadfully made. It's a decent PC port, provided you have a gamepad, which puts it leagues ahead of the likes of Kill la Kill IF. The cutscenes and character-art are decent. But then you get past the endless dialogue scenes and... my god... 1992 just called and it wants its basic low-tier PC 3d shooter back.

I played the demo, it's a very Media Vision Shining game, though it was made internally at Sega: competent but nothing too exciting. Good voice cast but I understand it isn't fully voiced, which is a shame.

I'll probably pick that up second-hand while I'm in Japan, that and 13 Sentinels.

@ChiefGB I played the Sakura Wars title that came out for the Wii. The best way I can describe it is a mix of the storytelling-style of Tokyo Mirage Sessions (albeit slightly less stylish), with a combat system that was a massively simplified version of Valkyria Chronicles. It was ok and caught my attention because it was an actual proper game on a system that was never exactly over-burdened with those, but nothing to write home about. I'd genuinely forgotten about the series until they started ramping up the publicity for the new one.

I downloaded the Sakura Wars demo but haven't got around to playing it yet. Similar with having bought the Wii one years ago (and regretted not importing the PS2 one which had a subbed version too) and not actually having played it...

Might have been a bit harsh on Azur Lane: Crosswave. 5 hours in now and it does have some of the usual Compile Heart janky charm.

Just a quick heads-up - the Kingdom Hearts are up on the NZ Xbox store now, so will presumably be rolling out to other regions in the next 12-24 hours.

Those there Kingdom Hearts games sound a bit mainstream ;)
I have foolishly purchased so many versions of this series and despite keeping starting on number 1 I get very quickly sidetracked by other games. Not bought 3 yet although it is down to a tenner now and I doubt it will get a physical all in one with its apparently overpriced DLC (or will get it with a code like I recall Nier getting)

They are, but I felt it was worth a nod seeing as they've apparently been sent out to die.

KH3 is coming out on Game Pass very soon so there's that.

Unfortunately I've not played 2 and there's no way I'm paying for it, so I'm not gonna play 3 anyway.

I never bothered with an X one, the first console I have skipped since mid90s. My PC makes it pretty needless for me.

KH3 hitting Game Pass already does add weight to Ror's point that it maybe didn't do so well.

There's a japanese games sale on the US Playstation Store.

Among other things, 428 is just ten dollars. Get on with it already.

Have to check out the sale. Preordered and finished the physical 428 two years ago though.

Still hoping for Machi remake and localisation. Unlikely but more likely than a spiritual sequel these days I imagine...

@One_Vurfed_Gwrx no way that's gonna happen. Shame, because it's a better game than 428 even.

The only other spiritual sequel is Time Travelers, but it came out in 2011 and therefore not likely to be localized anytime soon.

The one game I would like to see translated is Kamaitachi no Yoru, I'm amazed that the only localized version is still only available on iOS, and doesn't even work on iOS 11 onward.

Time Travelers is going quite well in fan translation at the moment. Not seen any success with Machi. I had a play at translating the text for fun for a ittle bit of it but it is obviously a monstrous undertaking for something I cannot reinsert into the game. The lowres kanji font can be fun to read sometimes too. Beats having everything in kana though like the stuff I have actually been working properly on fan translating.

Time Travelers didn't have the style of Machi with the photo style. I wouldn't be surprised to see a proper version of Kamaitachi done at some point. I tried downloading the old Americanised version on an iPhone 4 but you cannot even buy the extra purchases so just have whatever the base free game contains.

@One_Vurfed_Gwrx it took me two months to play through Machi, so obviously it's quite an undertaking. Worth it though. For comparison, Kamaitachi no Yoru is shorter, although it still took me two weeks or so to get through all the routes in the PS1 version. Also worth it.

I don't feel confident enough to fan translate something, so all my work is just for myself.

I just ordered a copy of AI: The Somnium Files. Had been meaning to pick it up for a while, so I thought I had better do so before it becomes hard to find.

Not actually a Japanese game, but you really need to check out World of Horror. It's an RPG inspired by both Lovecraft and Japanese horror, with old Apple II style graphics.

And it's available on Game Pass for PC.

I loved Time Travelers. I picked it up cheap on a whim, but it ended up being one of my favourite games on the Vita. Got a link for the fan translation project? I wouldn't mind getting involved in something like that.

@malek86 - I looked at the demo for World of Horror a few years back and it seemed quite cool. The old style aesthetic really appealed to me too. May have to look into the current version at some point.

Platinum are opening a new studio in Tokyo - that's one of the Platinum 4 announcements, so there's one left.

I've been playing the JP Persona 5 Scramble demos (PS4 & Switch) over the weekend and now I want it.
Reports of it being a musou game seem off (as far as my understanding of musou goes anyway), it's basically P5 but with a real-time battle system. Fights are fairly short and self-contained, while the Palace exploration remains similar.
I think I'll probably get this instead of Royal now, more P5 with a new story is more appealing to me than replaying the same P5 with extra bits.
