@Nazo Ugh, that sounds great, but still no Western release confirmed.
I hadn't realised it hadn't been announced for localisation already. We got the dancing games so now way they will skip this one, Persona Q2 was the most at risk title and I was confident we would get that one (and we did). I imagine they will do the marketing after Royal comes out. Not going to preorder it though (I usually do with Atlus stuff) due to it just being an update and mainstream enough now that I will get it cheaper easily at a later date (see also Ffvii). I have Preordered Langrisser 1&2 as the demos are quite fun for a classic Fire Emblem style game. Comes out next week I think. Possibly a little pricy for some but I forsee physicals being in short supply.

Big Koie Tecmo publisher sale on Steam this weekend. Some big discounts on the Dynasty Warriors and Atelier games (and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms ones, if they're your bag).

Blue Reflection steeply discounted as well. Played that at launch and really liked it. Leaving aside some odd fanservice DLC costumes (added, I suspect, on the instructions of the marketing team), it's a very odd little JRPG, which a melancholy tone you don't normally associate with either JRPGs or magical girls.

Iíve had Blue Reflection on my wish list for a long time and this is a tempting price and recommendation. It doesnít look like itíll run well on my computer though, annoying :-(

Just read that the Prinny games are coming to Switch.

I remember kinda liking the first one, but it got hardcore fast. I finished it once and didn't look back, which is not a great result for a game that was clearly built with replayability in mind (what with the stage variations depending on your playing order).

Never bothered with the sequel, but I remember it received worse reviews and a lot less attention overall.

@dominalien Really? It should run on pretty much anything these days, I'd have thought. It's not exactly a demanding game.

@Rogueywon Oh, that's less to do with my hardware specs and more with my OS choice. Still, it's on PS4 as well, maybe I should just play on that. Although I have sort-of rediscovered PC gaming recently, plus there's no trophies there so I'm less inclined to waste my time trying to get them.

@dominalien I 100%ed Blue Reflection's Steam Achievements. Perfectly doable in a single playthrough with only a minimum of optional exploration.

Guess that means an easy Platinum on PS4.

How annoying having reasons not to get it shot down one by one!

Seriously, I really liked it and it goes some unexpected places. It's basically a magical girl anime as a JRPG (Pretty Cure or Sailor Moon), except with a bit more thematic depth and a deeply melancholy mood hanging over the whole story. The basic theme of the story is that sometimes you need to give up on your dreams and accept you're just ordinary.

It's not Madoka Magica-style "dark magical girl", but there isn't really anything else it's directly comparable to.

In gameplay terms, it has some lightweight Persona-style mechanics (roughly equivalent to something like Tokyo Xanadu EX), combined with lightweight dungeon crawling and combat.

It's short for a JRPG. I completed it with 100% Steam achievements in 28 hours.

@Graxlar_v3 £20 right now on Steam, which I think is the cheapest it's ever been.

Yeah, that kinda sucks. Sadly, these Koei Tecmo JRPGs only very rarely get discounted below full RRP and even then it's usually on PC.

I have thought about Blue Reflection a few times but never got around to it. Been keeping an eye out for cheap pre owned really. Maybe one day if I see it at the right moment.

The Disaster Report 4 review on the frontpage has me wanting to buy it on Steam, but... ugh... not sure I'm prepared to shell out £50 for something I know is janky.

Yeah I want it but more in the £25 biting range. I'm not paying £50 for it.

@uiruki Yes, I'll give it a go later and see how heavy the jank is on PC.

Every format here has a demo, tried them all. PC is by far the nicest and has a decent selection of options too for a Japanese PC port. Also out on GOG too which is nice but not paying 55 quid for PC one when console version is available physical for 40. The English demo on PS4 ran btter than the Japanese demo did (had a hard crash on that one too) and the Switch version (docked) was better than I expected but PS4 (vanilla) felt better.

I almost preordered the PS4 one but have been waiting...

Demo seemed ok on PC. I've bought.

I'm a sucker for eccentric jankiness.

Played a bit of Disaster Report 4 last night, when I'd hit the point with P5R that I was seeing its main menu behind my eyes every time I blinked.

I'm quite enjoying it, though some of this may just be novelty value, from having never played the series before. That said, it has a lot of rough edges - as per the EG review - and I get the sense it isn't going to be hugely long. It's hard to give an outright recommendation at the current price. Maybe in the £25-30 range, it'd be easier to justify.

The price is one of the negative points at the moment, particularly as I wpuld like the GOG version. I half expect the PS4 oneto be deal of the week on the NISA Store within a month ort wo though after Langrisser hitting it quickly.

As for gaming, been polisbing off Fist of the North Stat Lost Paradise and uo to the final chapter with 2 substories uncompleted (the time consuming 100,000,000 IDL one and the final race (which I may do as was tired when I alst gave up) then the point of no return and get it done.

Also seemingly at final boss on Akiba's Trip on Vita too with the arena unfinished. Not sure how valuable multiple playthroughs are on that one though so may need more playthroughs...

    Via Gematsu:

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix will launch for Switch exclusively via the Nintendo eShop on May 15 in the west, publisher Sega announced.

Digital pre-orders are available now for the $39.39 base version and $59.99 ďMega Pack,Ē which includes six downloadable content packs, each containing six songs. Each pack will also be available individually for $6.99. The first, second, third, fourth, and fifth packs have already been released in Japan.
Additionally, there is apparently a demo up now

@One_Vurfed_Gwrx Akiba's Trip has multiple endings, but the branch point is pretty late in the game. I think you can see them all fairly easily from a late-game save.

Not much replay value other than that. But I did quite like it - janky as hell, but a fascinating love-letter to Akiba.

The anime is entertaining enough as well, in a dumb way, and restores one of Akiba's most prominent buildings that's missing from the game for obvious licensing reasons. :)

As if my backlog weren't extensive enough already, I've started Machi again.

It's just as long as I remembered it. After ten days irl, I've still only reached the end of the first day (out of five) with one character (out of eight).

Worth it though, my Japanese has got better in the last four years, so I'm getting many more details compared to the last time I played. Back then, there were more than a few things that I just glossed over because I couldn't translate them. This time, I don't need to rely on the translator tool as much, and even when it doesn't recognize a word, I'm still finding it easier to make an effort to track it down manually.

@Malek86 Sadly, my Japanese skills are going in the opposite direction as this is one I want to play properly one day. Got to try and get my consistency in practice up. This homeschooling lark isn't helping...

I have to back to Trails in the Sky SC and finished off chapter 4 now (I think) with approaching 50 hours in...
