Are you telling me that the Govt. have released documents that show them in a bad light, on the Friday afternoon before a Bank Holiday?

S'ok, they're rolling out Priti Patel in today's briefing to give us full transparency.

Irony is, they're planning on changing it to 1m because that's what other countries are now doing.

You know, the same countries that don't have thousands of new infections per day and hundreds of deaths. The ones that actually had a handle on it before they started fucking around easing lockdown etc.

The filthy foreigners without our British common sense.

What kind of fridges though? The ones that PMs tend to hide in?

just to really lighten the mood, here's something I've been dealing with...

I work with kids in care, sometimes, in an educational support capacity. before lockdown I was seeing a kid 3 days a week who is approx 150 miles away from his family. he'd see them about once a fortnight or every 3 weeks and videocall pretty much every day cause a relative paid for his phone to get fuck loads of data.

shortly before lockdown, he found out that relative had terminal cancer and, thankfully, managed to go see him. two weeks into lockdown they died and the kid hasn't been able to go see his family, attend a funeral or really have the same level of contact as before because payment for his phone has dropped.

this morning I found out that, along with some other issues, he's started self harming and had to get an emergency GP visit. this is a kid that two months ago was into bikes and cars and football. he's not your "typical" self harmer. he's hardly been able to leave the house due to lockdown and risk of contamination, so he's often shut in his room I'm told.

Then I see imagines of people flocking to beaches and not respecting the rules. Of people on telly just saying they're fed up with it all so are just going out. Of cunts just clapping with no fucking understanding of what it means to have a properly funded care system. Of people saying they want the pubs back open.

Fuck them all, to be quite honest. this government have been an absolute fucking shambles in dealing with this. I was on board, initially, but the last few weeks have shown they've either got no clue or they're wilfully ignoring anything sensible, just leaving it up to the public to flout some badly put together guidance.

Cummings needs to resign. He was symptomatic and made that trip. Others have resigned for far less.
    Disgraceful.

Unsurprisingly really. The BBC are basically a mouthpiece for whatever the government of the day wants to spout. It pisses me off that people think they are somehow unbiased.

@Baihu1983 or the Dominic Cummings traveling approx 32800 fridges during lockdown and therefore should be immediately fired! 🤣

She had the temerity to report what a source had told her.
    Journalists should never do that.

I think I let my biases loose sometimes. I used to think fairly highly of LK a little while back. I thought she was very very poor in her reporting during the Brexit fiasco*, as was Peston to be fair, but when your initial thoughts on someone are dashed hard, it sometimes sticks closer to you than someone you expected to be shit continuing to be shit. Like Fox being shitehawks for Trump is just wearying, Obama* loving Trump would do my head in.

I think my developed bias against Cummings is likely to poison my thoughts on anybody that defends him. Eventually I weigh things up, and fairly quickly. If I'm already biased against someone though, it takes a bit longer.

TLDR: Very mildly drunk poster temporarily retracts some of his outburst. Temporarily!

    * again, biases.

The issue is not so much that they're biased as that they're often too unquestioning. The extent to which they just parrot what politicians say rather than dissect/critique/analyse it often annoys me too. But then they are traditionally a broadcaster - they exist fundamentally to broadcast what's being said/done. They may these days have a news site but they're not primarily there to act like an investigative newspaper.
