Watched an episode of Go Jetters where they went to China, disappointed they didn't solve the crisis, but they did stop a robotic dragon.

It will start to affect everything, so many industries outside of electronics has a supply chain that is connected to China. -

Registered 9 years agoLocal school shut yesterday due to someone showing symptoms after returning from an affected area and one of the wife's work colleagues has been told to stay in isolation after returning ill from Asia. Have told her I will pick her up in 2 weeks. -

Her dad is only allowed to leave his building three times a week. The food is running out in the stores and prices are sky rocketing. Her friends are all on prolonged vacations with nothing to do but worrying if they'll catch the disease next time they do a food run, then infecting their family.
Then they can read about how the west sees this as the perfect opportunity to get on our high horse and say "Well, maybe liberal democracy could have helped", or how asian children all over the world are bullied and called vermin in schools.
But yeah, fuck me no Switch consoles. We are the real victims here. -

Registered 15 years agoNot sure how the media releasing details of the supposed super spreader name, face, occupation and where he lives is gonna help matters. Although he did come forward with a statement first, I think maybe the media could keep some information private and certainly stop referring to him as a super spreader.

I think it's good and imprortant to see cases where people are recovering as normal. There is so much doom and gloom.

They haven’t got enough beds/protective equipment/staff. Food supplies will run low, there will be absolute carnage if it takes hold. Proper riots and martial law.

But the chances are for most people the only actual physical effects would be a light cold. -

I think that's a worse case estimate that only takes into account known cases. There have only been 2 deaths outside China so far and there are how many hundred now?

Swine flu was worse, but now it's accepted as one of the seasonal flu's that does the rounds annually. You've probably had it.
With coronavirus I'm more worried about my pets, these things jump species but focus is only ever on human mortality
Yeah mate fair point. Someone today said that sixty percent of world population could get it. At 2/100 mortality that would be about 10,000,000 I think? My maths isn’t great.
But I’m definitely worried about your dog. -

Registered 16 years agoFun story: They had 2 people in up in my local hospital with suspected Coronavirus. They did the test, which takes 48 hours to confirm either way, then sent them home. They just punted 2 potential carriers out the door.
Thankfully nothing came of it and I honestly don't think it was ever a real risk, but it doesn't seem like it was the best way to handle infection control. -

To answer myself, I think there are 396 known cases outside China now.

I honestly feel a bit like they could just shut Brighton down for a few days. Just say, take the rest of the week off, keep trips out to a minimum.
I know people will still mix but not the thousands that would in offices and schools. Seems like China was too slow to react and now it’s chaining people up in their apartments. I’d rather they overreact early if I’m honest.
