If a genie appeared in front of me now and granted me one wish, it would be for Boris to put in another lockdown at 10pm on Christmas Eve.

Pretty ingenious how they've got the leisure centres open in Leicester - It says that they can stay open.

Things that can't stay open -

    Leisure centres.
Newcastle City Baths have issued guidance saying that you have to book an hour slot, if you don’t turn up in the first ten minutes you lose your slot, also changing rooms will not be open so you must arrive gym or swim ready
Hope the bus drivers don't mind people boarding in a speedo.

It's not great timing but I guess the decision has to be made if there are spikes.

I can understand why household interactions might be more likely to cause a spike. Having been in a pub my experience is that the interaction is minimal. There's hand sanitizer, ordering drinks via app and plexiglass between booths. In contrast visiting friends and family theres going to be lots of hugs and greetings, no masks and extended contact.

I can understand why people are upset but their are very limited options.

Just watching and some gammon reporter exclaims "People's holiday's have been ruined. Is Summer cancelled?!". It's like having a holiday in the Costa Brava is more fucking important than living. Stay here in the UK and help rebuild the economy for your holiday. And before someone says "but they booked last year and the kids...remember the kids"...fuck off.

Def. We keep getting asked into people's houses, you drop something off, they invite you in for a cuppa and have a little laugh about social distancing.

    Right back at ya, buddy.

In fact, help rebuild the economy by booking an overpriced holiday (nothing in August on the coast now) and spreading the virus further within our own borders.

If you are going down that route, it might be easier just to say ‘stay at home, skip the holiday entirely’. It would at least be consistent.

And this is coming from someone who agrees that that question is shit.

I would actually like my holiday to be cancelled so that I could get a full refund as I don’t disagree that staying at home is more sensible.

Unfortunately, most people weren’t lucky enough to be able to cancel. Or have the money to happily write it off.

Mask mandatory in other public areas and enforceable by law come the 8th. Staff and guards dont have the power to enforce this so other than saying no mask no entry what can I or anyone else do? As for the police coming out to fine people... Yeah can't see that.

In Trafford, a mostly-affluent part of Greater Manchester, health officials said younger middle-class residents were behind the recent rise in cases – not the south Asian community.

Eleanor Roaf, Trafford council’s director of public health, said about 57% of the new cases were people aged 25 or below and included those in its wealthiest suburbs, Altrincham and Hale, home to footballers and television stars.
Perhaps suggesting to young people that they are basically immune wasn't the best idea.

They probably wouldn't want to draw attention to the fact test and trace is a fucking shambles though.

“Thank you for attending today’s briefing. And remember the advice: hands, face, space, get a test, get a test. Hands, face, space, get a test, get a test. Wear your mask above your nose. Hands, face, space, get a test, get a test”
