Friend in Vietnam saya 20 days without a single case after they clamped down on second wave. Funnily enough apparently everyone there obeys the lockdown.

I can't see any correlation so can fully agree with the UK method of pretending it will go away.

Not sure they love freedom as much as us though to be fair.

Not got the app myself yet and will be back at work tomorrow but have they stated how long you have to be around someone for the app to say you have possibly been in contact with a person who has later tested positive?

I'm assuming that I'll be WFH for the entirety of next year.
    It's not a fun prospect.

@Nitrous - I read somewhere this morning that it's either 10 or 15 mins contact that triggers an alert

I wouldn't be at all surprised if I get the same message. The older generation I work with won't have a clue so that'll be fun... Not

I was in Vietnam in March and they did excellent job of keeping things contained until some piece of crap decided to travel across europe and get a flight home to Hanoi and spread it on a plane.

Their government will instantly respond to cases and don't fuck around and they are use to wearing masks. In the UK the government is shit full stop and you have thick cunts who know better by reading infowars, facebook and david icke's twitter. The forum I use to moderate on year ago, has these "not wearing a facking mask", not downloading an app, "just the flu innit" but demanding "the economy to go back how it was before there is nothing left" idiots

@fontgeeksogood Not saying that I won't be downloading it but there has been no consultation or regard to personal choice.

It's the same company that is making employees come back into the office next week on a phased basis when it is not essential for us to be in the office to do our work.

18% of people with symptoms self isolating. Less than 50% of people know what the symptoms are. Country of fucking morons.

I had to have a heated discussion with work last week about coming in to the office for an afternoon while I had tonsillitis.

"Is it a good idea for me to come in if I have a sore throat and a temperature?"

    "But it's not Covid"

"Not to my knowledge. But again, I have a sore throat and a temperature"

    "But it's tonsillitis"

"Yes, it's tonsillitis. But you're requesting we take our temperature and write any symptoms we have on a board when we come in to lower the chances of transmission, and again, I have a sore throat and a temperature"

    "Well what sort of temperature?"

"It's been bobbing above 38 degrees for at least 3 days"

"Oh, oh well you should probably not come in then"

    YA DON'T SAY!

Others will have had a far tougher time than that too, so it's not surprising so many aren't isolating. And then there are the actual fucking idiots of course.

If this is backed up by peer review, it's absolutely terrifying. I know a lot of people don't pay attention to politics, but surely this transcends all that.

Oh come on, we all know it is exactly like this.

You see Bojo and Co on the news saying how well people have done, how we've all pulled together and how considerate people are, but in reality people are bastards, most of whom couldn't give a toss.

How can half the population (dunno if this includes kids and those of less than sound mind though) not know the symptoms? There's only 3 of them!

To be fair, if you accidentally get another nations list on Google, they can vary quite a bit. The USA in particular just sticks everything on their list, including stuff it would be biologically impossible to do, that isn't supported by any evidence.

    Good luck with this one...

Scottish university students banned from going to pubs

Students are being told not to go to pubs, parties or restaurants in a bid to stem a spate of coronavirus outbreaks at Scottish universities.

Also, a large portion of people can't even wear a mask properly, so it's hardly surprising they wouldn't know the symptoms.
