I dunno, I think thatís slightly misleading looking at the survey. To get Ď100%í respondents had to give 5 quite exact symptoms. The % of people who identified all of them other than loss of sense of smell/ taste was more like 70% (obviously still not great). Interesting that the lowest proportion of correct answers came from young males.

If this is backed up by peer review, it's absolutely terrifying. I know a lot of people don't pay attention to politics, but surely this transcends all that.
You can make it about politics if you try. Like how we have engineered an enormous strata of people who have to make a choice between following the self-isolation guidelines and eating.

It isnt just morons not giving a fuck, it's also people who can't make rent if they stay home.

Weirdly enough my work isn't telling us to download it. We work in an opticians so it's all relatively close and if one of us gets symptoms the whole shop is isolating. Head office would be totally against that.

Someone from work went abroad and tried to claim she came back earlier in order to avoid quarantine.

Rather put her collages at risk than lose money because of a holiday she only booked last month. Country was already on the list as well.

I noticed that with the breakdown. The "worst" offenders were also the people most likely to have to work despite potentially being sick.

That's fair. Especially those self employed or in the gig economy.

Turns out that closing the pubs at 10pm leads to packed tubes in London and public transport all around the country.

How can the government just be so monumentally stupid? Itís really quite staggering.

I don't really understand the 10pm thing. Is it because people will get worse at social distancing the drunker they get?

Also, Leeds is going into local lockdown apparently.

    Where are you?

To be honest, this is looking more and more stupid. You might as well just say to South Wales that they can't go into England.

Anyone here pulled their kids from school yet? Latest ONS figures predict 1 in 500 people have CV, up from 1 in 900 last week.

I remember from the March lockdown that by the time the government shut schools (which they're not doing this time) over half of parents had already pulled their kids out.

Has there been a change in thinking since then?

I had to go into the office (London) yesterday and went out to meet a friend after work. Had a bit of time to kill so had a wonder first and checked out a load of the pubs in the Barbican/Farringdon area. Most were relatively quiet but plumped for one with the most spacing between tables.

Was sitting near the door and hardly anyone came in after 8:30 but we all left at 10. So had we stayed till 11 what difference would it have made? Same capacity, same space between tables, same amount of gel, same people wearing masks when leaving the table to use the facilities.

Now it is all seated table service (which it should always have been, and the few pubs I have been to I have chosen because they were doing this already) if its safe from 8-10 why wouldn't it be from 9-11?

Makes no sense at all, but then little this govt has done does.

I really didn't mind having here to be honest. But the risks to him are pretty miniscule and he was turning slightly feral without school so I won't be taking him out now. It'll probably mean me and the wife probably get it but fuck it, chances of it fucking up a piece of prime beef like me are pretty slim and the wife I can take or leave.

In the 2 weeks he's been back, he's come back with full blown tonsillitis and has now started with a cold just as the antibiotics have finished for that. There's absolutely no fucking hope it won't rip through the school at some point.

No one gives a shit anymore, we were asked to pick up the kids wearing a mask and half are, half aren't. There's no hard-line way of avoiding it without major financial implications for us or development issues for the kid. All we can do is be as sensible as we can in ourselves, which probably won't be enough but what can you do when you live here?

Just had to move seat on a train from Edinburgh as a Neanderthal diagonally across had his mask just covering his mouth and his nose fully exposed.

Even if schools close, we'll send them in as key workers. Can't have that again, was tough for everyone.

That's what happens once it gets foothold. The numbers get out of hand very quickly. See below.
