We're all avoiding Corona, right? Drinking Becks or equivalent if we want piss-quality lager?

Registered 16 years agoThere’s Sol if you particularly like the oxidised taste of photo-degraded hop oil thanks to the clear glass bottle. That’s why you put a lime in it btw, to restore some sort of bitterness after the hop taste has given up in the battle against sunlight -

There's actually a huge craft beer industry in Australia now, lots of really, really good beer. It's gotten to the point where people are now drinking Fosters ironically.

Registered 11 years agoI like Corona. It's very drinkable and my preferred lager. Though I'd generally prefer a sour beer or ale or stout. But if I want an easily drinkable lager it's my go to.
But in all seriousness the death rate is higher than the prediction.
If anybody is brushing this off as nothing you're being a bit of a jerk.
Yes, if your healthy it's unlikely to kill you, but it is highly contagious. It's a remarkable lack of empathy or concern for those who are vulnerable. -

I'm not brushing this off as nothing, what I am doing is trying to get some sense of perspective.
In the USA alone, there have been 15 million cases of the flu with 8,200 deaths in the first three weeks of 2020 (Source: CDC). Those figures are slightly higher than last year, but about normal. The media is not all over that and we're not putting anyone who has travelled to America in quarantine.
As for a lack of empathy, it was because my daughter was terrified by the media reports that I started looking into this in more detail so I could tell her the facts and hopefully reassure her. I had the flu (badly) just before Christmas so was able to relate Coronavirus and the flu to her and explain the risks and transfer rate. I was showing concern for her and was hoping to assuage some of the fears of people on this forum.
As for contagion rates, they are not clear at this point but appear lower (RO 1.4 - 2.5) than SARS (RO 2-5) (Source: WHO). It is expected that this number will drop as more is known about it. SARS, which this pathogen most closley resembles killed 774 people. SARS had a higher mortality rate than corona virus (Source: WHO). The WHO has at this point not declared this an emergency due to the death rate and transmission.
As I said, it "could" mutate into something nastier, but then so could the flu.
I dont think name calling helps much to be honest, but that's this place. -

Registered 11 years agoI basically wear hiking shoes all the time - they are comfortable and hard wearing. Used to buy trainers but they just wear through in a couple of months, a good pair of hiking shoes last me about 8-12 months. And they are waterproof.
I honestly don't know why anybody would buy anything else unless you're trying to be cool and fashionable.
Don't wear a full rucksack but have backpack. -

Although to be fair a lot of craft beer is shit, as it's usually another IPA, often heavily hopped to disguise how crap it is, or worse is the gimmicky beers.
Jam and ginger fudge black IPA? Sure why not, just chuck any old shit in.
