That must be counting a lot of granular changes that don't apply to most people - like rules for a specific industry or something? There's no way the rules that most people need to be aware of have changed meaningfully more than once a week.

Fuck the rules at this point. Just stay at home if you don't need to be out. That's pretty damn simple.

People were doing that before the March lockdown. The M25 in late Feb and early March was dreamy to drive on. That wasn't because of any rules.

People can do it. They just need it drilled into them that this is serious...again.

It's harder now cause of all the government u turns but the ultimate message should be and is now STAY THE FUCK AT HOME.

In sure the 64 includes some extremely nitpicky stuff, but it doesn't help the point that the general public don't know wtf is going on week by week, and everything is done with such a short term, cater to everyone and no-one at the same time mindset.

You're not different as a people. There's plenty of reasons why the Rona is affecting Britain more than others, all of which combined puts you where you are:

    1) population density
    2) mobility (including international)
    3) timid yet belligerent government
    4) appallingly confusing, late guidance

Don't let number 3 make you blame one another

    5) airports still open ffs

Edit - I guess that’s actually number 2 (literally and metaphorically)

Yes, I was thinking this. All the curtain-twitching only helps distract from the government's own failings. Providing the appropriate support would do a lot more than spending 24 hours discussing whether it's appropriate to be exercising 5.6 miles from home.

The fact people felt there was minor cause for celebration yesterday that there were 'only' 40-odd thousand cases shows to what degree they've absolutely fucked it for us all.

There are just as many selfish cunts here, believe me. And anti-maskers. Percentage wise.

The difference is, other than less population density (and even then, most of us live in big cities by the border) is that our government - twats too, of course - have been clear, relatively quick to act and be punitive

Cases on day that would still be affected by delayed weekend reporting decreased within the margin of error - hurrah!

It definitely doesn’t help that on the political side this government doesn’t want or believe in a lot of the measures its being made to put in place

Video going around of Bruce Willis refusing to wear a mask in a Pharmecy. Best tag line I’ve seen so far is Die Hard With a Ventilator.

What do some people find so difficult about wearing a mask? Is it too much to ask to put a bit of cloth over you nose and mouth in exchange for not potentially killing someone?

A yes or no would do...

Meanwhile the wife has just let me know that she has turned away a couple from the store saying they have travelled a long way. No click and collect order just came out. Eurrgh why!

Re rules, what sense it there in not having to isolate if you live in the same house as a contact who's been told to isolate? Assuming we don't all live in multi winged stately homes if one person potentially has it it's pretty safe to assume the whole house does!

Spare a thought for attention-seeking celebrities. With a mask on, nobody will recognise them :’( you don’t pay thousands on lifts and fillers just to hide the plastic behind a face nappy!

Looking further ahead, I'm keeping an eye on France where vaccine scepticism is astonishingly prevalent for such a well-educated population. Only 40% say they will get the vaccine vs 77% of the UK.

At that level, I'm not sure they can vaccinate their way out of Covid as that isn't sufficient for herd immunity. There presumably will continue to be a residual level unless attitudes change or until enough of the population has antibodies through actual infection.

It's been demonstrated that every country is only as Covid safe as their neighbours and there could come a time (perhaps even by the summer) when we will need to impose similar controls on France as they imposed on us at Christmas. As we've seen shutting the French border doesn't work and causes chaos so there needs to be a more nuanced approach which I'm sure will put further strain on the ports.

You'd hope our Government are planning for this now because it feels like it's in the post.

Is this the difference between what’s law and what’s advice?

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1374/schedule/3A

There’s no actual requirement for people to “stay local” as far as I can see.

Plus France are miles behind on vaccination already - only a couple of hundred thousand done thus far and increasing at a slower rate than us.

The reluctance to get vaccinated in France in strange. I wouldn't have had them down as that sort of country.

My company has just announced that it will contribute to us buying home gym equipment to better cope with lockdown. Anyone know of any gym equipment that is essentially game or beer paraphernalia?

Asda will begin to offer COVID-19 vaccinations later this month.

The supermarket has been given the thumbs-up from the NHS to provide jabs to priority groups – initially from an in-store pharmacy in Birmingham.

I'm lucky to have a large park over the road. It is popular on a nice day, but there is a secluded woodland walk away from the main drag. I normally walk for an hour after lunch with the dog.

Didn't yesterday, for the first day in weeks...and someone found a dead body! I'm sure the dog and I are now under investigation.
