Due to some ongoing issues with my domestic situation I think I'll be moving back to my dad's for a bit.

Do feel a bit bad about this but not really sure what else I can do. He's been vaccinated twice and I'll absolutely seek to keep my social circle non-existent

But for my mental health I think I need to. Also physical health, given that my housemate threatened to kill me in her most recent meltdown. Perhaps it's a bit a serious threat but not sure I want to risk her entering another heightened emotional state and losing control.

    @drhickman1983

Nothing to feel bad about mate, there are even specific exemptions for people suffering from domestic abuse. Stay safe.

I'm going to the shops today. I bet it this makes you all sick, but you know what I just don't care. I. Am. A. Rebel.

Maybe worth getting yourself a test for added peace of mind before going to dad's place.

@drhickman1983 that absolutely sounds sensible. You can still do whatever you need to in order to reduce risk even in the same house and if you're worried, grab a load of the lateral flow tests until the 10-14 days are up.

I went yesterday and it was carnage. Went to get the kids some stuff but on seeing the queues for certain shops for kids stuff (mainly Primark) I abandoned that and ended up getting myself stuff from nicer shops :).

I'm going to go first thing tomorrow after work as a second attempt to get in the cheaper shops.

I went to the shops yesterday lunchtime and it was busy-ish, but not the kind of carnage we had when we came out of second lockdown. Everybody I saw was wearing a mask and social distancing seemed to be just about holding.

Still felt a bit uncanny after everywhere being so dead for the last three and a half months.

I'm tempted to go even wilder and take the kids to Thorpe park as I just realised they are open. Crazy I know..

They were horrendously busy during normal times, they'd be even worse now.

According to their website they aren't letting as many people in as usual, you have to pre book. Plus I'll take them on a school day because I'm a good parent. Although yeah I am a bit concerned what the queues could be like still.

Oh ffs. Just had a call from my mum - my dad's just been taken to A&E after being assaulted while marshalling at a vaccination centre. She sounded more pissed off than worried, so I'm hoping it's nothing too serious.

That just saddens me to have to share the same gene pool with these mouth breathers.

He just called me - he sounds fine. Guy showed up for his appointment and was told there was a 20 minute queue. He kicked off about this and just kept getting angrier and angrier. Eventually he started shoving my dad out of the way to get into the centre. This has happened before, but this time my dad tripped on the ramp and fell on his arse.

He's not particularly hurt, though he expects he'll have a good big bruise on his arse, but as he fell over, they've had one of the other marshals drive him to A&E just to be careful.

1300 babies have died from this in Brazil apparently. Looks like the ol' herd immunity route would have been a lot of fun.

Apparently, the Brazilian variant is hitting the younger age groups hard. On the radio this morning they mentioned that baby stat and the fact that ICUs are packed with people under forty.

If that starts to take hold here then we'll be back to square one.

Sounds like the vaccines are still effective on it thankfully.
