Not at all times
I did try and make notes if went to a beer festival, but they devolve from description of flavours to nonsense after a couple of pints. Then I never read them back anyway.
Mostly just use notes to try and record what I drank. -

Can't disagree with that. Brewed a shit beer? Chuck some more crap in there, make it soft serve and charge £17 for a third.
Although to be fair a lot of craft beer is shit, as it's usually another IPA, often heavily hopped to disguise how crap it is, or worse is the gimmicky beers.
Jam and ginger fudge black IPA? Sure why not, just chuck any old shit in.

I have paid about 8 quid for a third, but that was for a 12% sour beer and honestly it was one of the best things I've ever drunk, so no regrets.
Certainly no fucking ice cream. -

Registered 9 years agoSure, a lot of craft beer is shit, just as a lot of any thing is shit. But there's a bit of a gap between that and "they all taste the same". -

Registered 15 years agoLooking forward to someone like brewdog marketing a “Light IPA” in the future, it’s less hopped for a more mellow taste -

Registered 15 years agoIt’s fucking everywhere in the U.K. Every bar has 18 different types on draught, every shop has a dozen different craft brewers offering a dozen different types on IPA in a dozen different quirky cans with a dozen different quirky names. You do the math! -

Registered 11 years agoIPAs can be good, but they became very trendy and hip. Because they can be heavily hopped it's easy to make a shit beer then just cover the shitness with hops.
I like some craft brewers a lot, Wild Beer are great, or Arbor, or Moor. They don't really do gimmick beers. But many craft brewers are shit.
But they definitely don't taste the same. Same way that whiskies don't taste the same. Or anything, really. -

Registered 16 years agoThere are a fuck load of new breweries opening up all the time now and then closing down. Many are just trying to cash in on the craft beer boom but quickly realise its more than just releasing a shit IPA or pale and waiting for the millions to role in. Its also lead to a lot of big breweries releasing shit beer under a different name to try and cash in too.
But amongst all the shit are some real gems if you know where to look. -

Registered 14 years agoEnough beer, so it's time for a conspiracy theory, with this coronavirus-related article:
https://www.nature.com/news/inside-the-chinese-lab-poised-to-study-world-s-most-dangerous-pathogens-1.21487
Future plans include studying the pathogen that causes SARS, which also doesn’t require a BSL-4 lab, before moving on to Ebola and the West African Lassa virus, which do. Some one million Chinese people work in Africa; the country needs to be ready for any eventuality, says Yuan. “Viruses don’t know borders.”
edit: to be clear, SARS is a member of the coronavirus family. The rest of the article talks about previous accidental releases from other Chinese bio-secure labs, amongst other things.

Registered 12 years agoNot a fan of gimmicky beers but I've had more than my fair share of the jam doughnut beers that Tiny Rebel do. -
Craft beers are like sourdough bread, it's mandatory for every single establishment to serve them as if other bread or beer doesn't exist.
Wank.
