Registered 13 years agoNowhere near as bad but it can relate to Stevas. My upstairs neighbour managed to talk continuously from 10am to 4pm the other day. She didn’t even pause for lunch.

Registered 15 years agoI found some pretty good videos on youtube explaining how to cut your own hair without just going 1 all over.
I'll probably get the wife to watch them and see how we get on. Always got the option to shave it all off if things go pear-shaped. -

Yeah, I should add, probably wouldn't be so bad if I could also skive like this twat is, but I can't, I have to concentrate as I still must WFH (no netflix holiday for me) - and you know as well as I do, trying to concentrate through gritted teeth because you're having to drown out some inconsiderate cunt's noise with music turned up uncomfortably loud is sometimes just not possible.

Have you got any noise cancelling headphones? King of the Hill level obsession with lawn mowing where I live, sometimes I just bung on my Sony XM3’s and it drowns it all out.
All day. Some cunt, all. Fucking. Day. With a drill.
I'm locked in, having to work through this shit.
Fuck me. You couldn't wait a fucking week.
And certainly not all. Fucking. Day.

Registered 14 years agoContagions in Italy keep going down, so that's good, but they aren't going down fast enough to convince me that it might mot just be another fluke.
I mean, if the whole country goes into sudden lockdown, after the customary 2 weeks period shouldn't you then see a sharp drop in contagions, rather than a downtrending curve?

Registered 13 years agoDepends on how those people are being tested - it might be that testing is only starting to ramp up, but the overall infection rate may be dropping quickly.Really difficult to tell until a month or two have gone by and you are seeing a consistent trend in either direction. -

It's not just about the numbers going down it's the fact they're no longer growing exponentially. So in that sense we can say that yes, lockdown and containment definitely does work.
As to why it hasn't started downtrending more... depends how seriously people took the lockdown.
Also as they reckon 70% of the spread happens in family homes/extended family even under lockdown this thing can still grow for a while. Especially if the family home also includes grandparents etc
So the fact your numbers have stopper soaring day on day is hugely positive.
Another worrying option is the 5 day average for exposure to symptoms (or 14 max) is wildly wrong. But I don't think that's the case. -

If you look at the increase as a percentage you'll see a big drop. From a bit above 25% a day to around 8% the last two days.

But it's 8% of a much larger number. Things are definitely going in the right direction -

We (Idaho) just went into full shelter in place. Considering we’re way down the list on confirmed cases, we’re way ahead of other states. Looks like we’re also going to have the national guard enforcing it, so one step short of martial law.
