I absolutely loved it! A real rollercoaster ride, this one. Special effects are fooking class. I haven't had this much fun at the cinema for years! Jumped out my seat at least 4 times.

    Wow, wow, wow.

Please "don't download this film". It raelly is a big-screen movie if ever there was one.

    morriss is happy!!

I too am off to thepiratebay.

Probably won't bother watching it, just download it to share, you know?

    ;)

On a more serious note, the film sounds cool. If I hear more things like this I'll probably pressure friends in to going to see it.

The only negative is that I didn't really sympathise with Big Tom's plight. Yes I wanted him to survive the 'absolutely amazingly massive set-pieces' in the film, but the whole underlying 'Family Guy' element I couldn't give a toss about. It however reduced my enjoymnet by 0.00001%

the set pieces are spielbergs speciality. Even if you hated the Jurassics, some of the set pieces were marvellous.

As for 'smiler' cruise, I hope he get's death rayed the fuck right out of the film!

    short ass cunt!

Oh yeah, the CGI is the best I've ever seen in any film. Absolutely stunning.

Who cares about Tom "You can't handle the psychiatry" Cruise.

What's stopping me from watching the film is that annoying brat Dakota "Spawn of Satan" Fanning. On a scale from "Annoying Brat" to "Very Annoying Brat", how much of an annoying brat is she in this?

Shut up! Shut up! I'm going tonight!

/listens intently to see if they sneaked an 'Ulla' in there...

On the other hand I really don't get all this 'Dakota Fanning is annoying' crap. Slightly creepy, possibly, but probably one of the least annoying child actors around.

I've read an excellent review in a usually pretty high-brow German news magazine. Made me really want to watch it.

didn't you think the ending was a cop out? the aliens shoot some water at him and he turns into the hulk and smashs all the tripods to bits.

    booo!

Yeah but this one has a spoiler warning :) So spoilers ahoy....

"I hope he get's death rayed the fuck right out of the film"

For me the death rays are the star of the film. The opening scene where there's people getting disintegrated left, right and center is just amazing. Incidentaly in the original had the tripods been left underground for millions of years? That seemed odd to me?

Dakota Fanning is fine. Tom is ok, and that largely is the cast covered.

The film focuses on Cruises family almost totaly and yet its really dificult to empathise with them, and strangely the story feels empty, its like it never really knows where its going, which I guess is partly the point, but it left me feeling disinterested between the big set peices.

Top comedy moment for me was the train level crossing barriers going down and then everyone watching the buring train roll by and then acting as if nothing had happpened. Not sure if it was meant to be funny, but it got a laugh from the audiance.

I mostly agree with Quickben. It is a very good film though and some of the camera work is fantastic (driving on the freeway, camera panning around the van and dodging other vehicles). It's gonna be massive despite how good it really is so you all may as well see it anyway!

"This is your personal space"? All that kind of thing? Sounded like the stuff I'd heard about scientology at any rate. My understanding could be off I'll admit, but all the same, there was some 'odd' dialogue in parts of that movie.
They explained that sometimes she felt claustrophobic. It all sounded ok to me.

Yeah, I thought he was, but I liked it when the aliens were there. Lots of tension :)

    Just went to see it!

Bloody hell, how grim is that film?? Nice to see a 'serious' alien invasion film for once, though Ray still got his hero moment!

The 'Martians' were very, very cool and very, very scary.

On the other hand I did hear some girl saying "That's the worst film I've ever seen!!" when I was leaving the cinema...

    Mega crap.

Spielberg's truly drowning in power - people need limits to be creative in my opinion.

Avoid at all costs. Go see Batman or Kung Fu Hustle.

I think you should just go see the film to have. If you're in that Popcorn munching, summer blockbuster movie kind of mood, then you'll loveit. It's what seeing a film on a big screen is all about.

If you go wearing Barry Norman's glasses I'm sure you can find faults. Just sit back, forget the book, enjoy the film.

Though I haven't seen this film yet, I agree with you in general.

Peter Jackson and George lucas being prime examples.
