| I think I might do just that. I just watched the Skill Up review and it looks woeful. I dont think any amount of patches are fixing this. |

Registered 17 years agoYeah, I’m out. Watched the Skill Up. Review then started watching a gameplay playthrough. Skipped through some parts and it looks really bad, some really awful design choices.
The narrator speaking for every character is particularly bad, as is the language/voice choices they’ve gone for. 2 characters, Out-of date and Best-before, are both so bad I’ve turned the video off. It’s not for me. -

Registered 16 years agoIt does make it look cheap. If you’re just going to have animal crossing burbles, just stick with the subtitles. -

Registered 6 years agoThe ACG guy made a point of how bad the sound is, which did stick out to me on a few of the videos I watched last week. No idea what the fuck they were thinking with that narrator. -
Damn, that’s a bit disappointing. The gameplay videos lately actually looked better than the ropey trailer, but after reading a few reviews, I am definitely out. -

Registered 8 years agoI can see all the things wrong with it but the things I like the look of (artsyle, exploration of the world, the combat in parts) means I'll still get it tomorrow.
And probably regret it.
I appreciate the ambition and seeming heart behind the game. -

Registered 16 years agoThe biggest nope was in the skill up video where he is describing a quest where he had to complete a tedious task that then turned into half a dozen of the same tedious tasks at opposite ends of the map.
That has nothing to do with broken game mechanics it's just aggressively disrespectful of your time. -

Registered 9 months agoDisappointed. I thought it looked ok from the small gameplay snippets i watched a while back. Oh well, one to get free on epic games next year! -

I saw that, it was literally climbing a wall face by pressing up but the fact that you have to do it at several different locations all really far away from each other. The emptiness of the world is also a killer it seems.

Registered 16 years agoLooking around at a few different reviews, this looks like a Ubisoft game without the storytelling polish. No thanks. -

Registered 15 years agoIt has that thing where the characters just go “durba durba durba durba durba” and then the narrator explains what they said. I can’t be having that. Hire some voice actors ffs. -

Rinse Resi in a week then sell/trade it for Mass Effect?
I was holding out on Res Evil and Mass Effect to see if this was worth getting. So now I'm back to not knowing whether I want Mass Effect or Res Evil first. -

Registered 15 years agoNot having followed the game at all, I like the premise and the look of it a lot... but pretty much nothing else. I wonder if it’s part victim of production issues during Covid as it does look very beta. -

Registered 6 years agoThey've been making it for something like 10 years so I'm not sure Covid has much to do with it. It's had "troubled production" written all over it for years now. -

Registered 8 years agoTo echo that I had read it was in development for 4 years and they were given extra time to keep adding stuff. For a staff of 20 that seems like a terrible idea. -

Registered 6 years agoEverything seen makes me think its such a shame. Such good technical talent and creative ideas wasted behind what appears to be poor scope creep.
Makes me wonder if the talented team simply needed a more experienced project manager handling things in some form of oversight. They would have had time to resolve issues such as sound design or polish combat. If someone had said hold a minute do we need a world this big or maybe we don't need all these side quests. -

Registered 4 years agoMaybe I’m in a minority but I much prefer a scaled back open world, where I’m slightly restricted where to go, than something I can traverse which little to do than hoover up side quests.
The article about Beyond Good & Evil reminded me that you don’t need to have a wide map with icons everywhere to feel somewhat populated.
I also go back to when I first booted up GTA 3. It was incredible seeing this massive map I could piss about in, now I play an open world game and I rarely find myself pissing about or even bothering with side quests because I feel like I’ve played it all before. -

Registered 17 years agoProblem with some games they make the game world so big but its empty and just there to pad out the game as you fetch quests one side of the map to the other. Of course there is some easily impressed gamers that love massive empty game worlds, so they can look at every texture with nose against the screen -

Registered 8 years agoI think the GTA games are still unsurpassed for the excitement of a new play space to discover and explore. Ubisoft are able to make rich game worlds but they all seem to be lacking character or life just a place in which to fast travel. -

Registered 8 years agoYeah, I'll accept that. Won't agree that it's ubeaten but it had a world I defintely wanted to explore. -
I was very excited for this game, and had in on preorder. I'm about 4-5 hours in, and I don't feel much motivation anymore for it.
Some things I find cool, some nice ideas, and I would really want to like it. But its not all that interesting. the graphics seem to be outdated as well. every fort looks exactly the same.
But maybe i'm missing something, or maybe there is stuff later on in the game that I havent seen yet.
I dunno
